    Pros

    Cons

The supervisors are very unprofessional. The company allows supervisor to date employees and to be disrespectful to employees who don't participate. The company promotes bullying and harassment from supervisos. Reports and complaints about the supervisor and management gets ignored.HR and upper management simply don't care, value or respect employees.

    Advice to Management

Hire new management. Treat all employees with dignity and respect.

I worked at American Red Cross full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Helping others, co workers can be fun.

    Cons

Low pay for call center employees, managers and supers earn much better. The Red Cross will try to get away with over working their employees. Management and upper management have good pay. Good insurance, but when there is money crunch, they have no problem canning people, no matter how long they have been there.

    Advice to Management

    No advice.

I worked at American Red Cross full-time

    Pros

Friendly staff in Philadelphia office and great supervisor

    Cons

Upper management pretended to understand our concerns but still continued to pile on the work even with staff shortages. Your opnions aren't valued. Lowered expectations for employees at other work sites so work quality os horrible and you have to pick up the slack.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your staff and pay them more

I worked at American Red Cross full-time

    Pros

    - Encouraging and supportive management - Great mission and vision of the organization - Good location with parking availability - Good team player attitude in the organization

    Cons

    - The wages are not competitive - Some labs are unionized, which made union vs management issues difficult at times - Upper management did not support the vision of research labs

    Advice to Management

    - Needs improvement with communication to research and clinical labs - The process of getting funding approval for equipment and new testing was difficult and did not promote quick customer service

I worked at American Red Cross full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The health care benefits were affordable. Founded on a good mission. Need to refocus on what is important -volunteers are there backbone

    Cons

Poor communications, bullying managers, donor exhaustion, over worked. The organization is not open to outside ideas or new information. New upper management is running it like a sales operation and. Not a non profit.

    Advice to Management

Time to clean house. Anyone that has worked for the same nonprofit organization longer than 10 years is not open to change and innovation. It's causing loss of employees, donor dollars and respect of the communities

  9. "Decent place to work, but don't expect much upward mobility"

    StarStarStarStarStar
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

I worked at American Red Cross full-time

    Pros

Full benefits package from day one, great people at lower levels (non-profits tend to attract nice people), feeling you're making a positive difference to the community.

    Cons

Upper management in Washington DC dictating asinine protocols that were out of touch with the mission of the department. Also, my job was in a call-center, so you felt chained to your desk.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the employees who have direct contact with the public, and know what's going on.
