I worked at American Seating full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I work with many wonderful people and I value their association over the years. American Seating has many great products for the Transportation and Fixed Seating markets which was a pleasure to support and represent.

    Cons

Corporate communications was at time missing to define company strategic planning and direction. I was often asked for my personal goals but not provided company goals.

    Advice to Management

Communicate strategic direction so employees can focus on common goals.

I worked at American Seating (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Great co-workers and most managers.
    Good wages.

    Cons

Frequent permanent layoffs that have nothing to do with job performance or seniority.
Long term dedicated employees are not valued by management.

    Advice to Management

When the manufacturing is constantly being sent to other places and the employees have no job security you are losing the employees' dedication to the company that was common place year's ago.

I worked at American Seating full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They pay pretty decent. They have a rich history because they have been around forever. You work with some good people, but not all.

    Cons

Upper management and executives are completely disconnected from employees and industry as a whole. Compant outlook is poor, job security is bad. Departments dont communicate, sales structure is confusing and doesn't work very well.

    Advice to Management

Learn to change. Listen to your good employees who can help you turn this once great company around. Encourage departments to talk to eachother. Drain the swamp, get some young blood in there to change old outdated business practices. Train your sales force to understand your product and how to sell it.
