    Pros

    Great Product and Great Warranty

    Cons

Management is terrible, they do not communicate with their sales force. If there is an issue with an installation you never know about it until you just don't get paid. If you try to ask about things like commissions or installation status you are ignored. They tell you you'll be paid for certain expenses like travel over 100 miles from home but then they invent ways to not pay the expenses. They owe me over $2,000 in expense money & have ignores my requests for answers as to why I have not been compensated. If they installer says they needed to perform work not initially called for they will charge the Sales Rep for the work at cost higher than the customer pays and you won't know they've charged you for it until it's taken from your commissions with little or often no explanation. I had 1/2 of my commission charged back a month after I was paid and the job was installed because they say the customer cancelled and someone else saved the job so they would get 1/2 the commissions. I was never informed of any of this until a month later when they deducted the amount from another sales commissions. STAY AWAY FROM SAFETY TUBS/LIBERATION BY AMERICAN STANDARD.

    Advice to Management

Treat your sales force like professionals. Get some REAL managment

    Pros

It's a job. New CEO, hoping for a better future for the company.

    Cons

Feast or famine work schedule means having to struggle paycheck to paycheck at 40 hours or less, or bringing home a decent paycheck by burning yourself out working the constant 6 or 7 day week at 12-16 hours a day. Weak union wants leaders to fight for their wages, but will gladly lay down for the company when the going gets tough. Outdated equipment puts out dented products and machinery leaks more oil than a Volkswagen Beetle. Speed of conveyors forces employees to work like dogs and increases the likelihood for scrap. Compensation is very lackluster for the time, effort, and stress applied to put out product.

    Advice to Management

Hire a management team that cares about the efficiency and quality of the plant and products, not just how much money the plant can save. Have routine and proper maintenance done on the machinery to increase efficiency and quality of the product. Slow the conveyors down a notch so employees can give the product the time and care it needs (which is really only a few more seconds) to be a decent product and reduce scrap.

I have been working at American Standard Brands full-time

    Pros

Managers that have been around for a long time are great. Employees that have also been around since the private equity days are friendly and have a terrific bond with each other. You are able to work on basically anything you want to do.

    Cons

Management team changes every 18 months for the last decade. Thus no consistency in anything that happens at the company. Now owned by a large Japanese conglomerate that is incredibly slow to react to anything and think there are thousands of employees in the USA just like in Japan when in fact there aren't in terms of work requests.

    Advice to Management

Don't try to do everything. Concentrate and refocus on core competencies. Stop hiring more and more upper level management (aka work creators) and not hire any work doers. Also try promoting from within. Very demoralizing for those who have worked hard over the years. No advancement and extra work trying to adapt to new management all of the time.
