I worked at American Student Assistance full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The company is more like a family. People are understanding, helpful, and kind. Great to work here if you are a parent.

    Cons

The company is boring at times. There was a lot of restructuring when I was there and that was not great.

I have been working at American Student Assistance

    Pros

The staff are childish and think they’re still in high school. People get fired randomly so everyone keeps their resumes updated. You’ll burn out quick or get fired before your pension kicks in.

    Cons

    The people and working weekends.

I worked at American Student Assistance full-time

    Pros

Staff is extremely knowledgeable and very team focused. The people made it an amazing place to work for 10+ years. A recent change in mission sounds very promising and can do a lot of good for today’s students.

    Cons

There’s been a high number of staff turnover which includes key areas of leadership - a result of layoffs and voluntary departures. This has deeply affected the organization. Prior to my own departure, there was an overwhelming sense of feeling undervalued. Motivating factors to want to continue amazing work were no longer present.
