    Pros

Stable industry, financially sound, good place for entry level exposure to the Business.

    Cons

Inconsistent ethics regarding treatment of employees across and among business units and functions. Targeting of individuals for set up to fire. More firing of employees without significant reasons than I have ever seen. Management is allowed to bully and torment employees without recourse. Work / life balance is inconsistent. Employees appear to be punished like children for having a personal life or being out sick.

    Advice to Management

Do a detailed assessment of the level of experience required in mature organizations in order to hold VP and Director level. The Business side seems to be fairly good with some inconsistencies. Management training in a more formalized way would be helpful in ensuring the core values, principles, and so forth that the leadership team aspires to foster within the company culture. In my opinion, the company has a long way to go to mature to be able to catch up to the rapid growth it has experienced.

I have been working at American Tower full-time

    Pros

Financial stability, good CEO and Senior Vice Presidents, most employees are nice, strategic vision for the company is sound

    Cons

Management is extremely critical of their employees, they micro-manage, and they're very unpleasant to work for. For the most part they're new to managing IT which has also resulted in roadblocks taking way too long to get resolved. The IT Organization has a revolving door so avoid getting too attached to any of the coworkers. Given the financial stability of the company it's extremely sad to see the poor culture IT Management has decided to foster, there's just no reason for it other than their own egos.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees more and talk less, appreciate the effort employees put in and allow employees to make mistakes -- this is how people learn, when trying a new method realize it's not going to go smoothly the first time around be reasonable with employees instead of blaming them when things don't go the way you anticipated. And for goodness sake, take accountability for your actions and direction.

    Pros

    There aren't any these days.

    Cons

A New business model is designed to provide a tool (data base) which no longer manages document integrety, instead it measure response, process time, etc of each employeeout against other employees of same responsibilities. Eventually all of us that have been loyal employees will be terminator then replaced with short term contractors.

    Advice to Management

Eventually stockholders will figure out the games those members of the 3rd floor have played and the previous employee's you have wronged. I would expect stockhoolders will get tired of paying off lawsuits to those previous employees.

    Pros

well, there are few good people

    Cons

Horrible Management, Low Pay, Extremely discouraging Work Place

    Advice to Management

Senior Management and CEO are fine, but junior management needs to learn how to treat their employees right (also don't pretend like you know everything when in fact you have scammed your way to management level and don't even know how to do a simple math).

I have been working at American Tower full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits are The only reason why the underdogs stay. Bonuses are after taxes & they've just made them harder to get with a point system. Don't get sucked in.

    Cons

Clicky snobs will do fine as they are the only ones pre-selected for coddling and promotions. The rest will Never receive additional experience to move up so they will be passed over for promotions and will absolutely be laid off once they've wrung you out. Those who remain buy the nicest clothes and will drown on exhausted, understaffed, "scalable" teams.

    Advice to Management

It's not even worth leaving any advice any to these people because they use all the buzz words while continually abiding by immoral favoritism which ultimately advances their own success so it won't stop. All who've tried to speak up have been met with a united front of blank stares and feigned ignorance.

You get to see into the world of cell towers and how they work.

    Cons

Horrible management in IT. Very immature and politically motivated. Training is non-existent and management is more interested in making technical requirements documents look pretty instead of being complete and useful.

    Advice to Management

Shake up that IT department and get some real IT-experienced managers in there!

I have been working at American Tower full-time

    Pros

very good benefits including payments for wellness, 401k match. The base pay is low, but the equity/stock is great, and can keep people there for many years. The company is very successful. Access to good training opportunities.

    Cons

This is the most oppressive company I have ever worked. Nobody has autonomy and any decision needs to go through many many layers of approval - the company operates like they have 50,000 employees, while they only less than 3,000 employees. It's not uncommon to find bosses yelling at the employees. Anyone seriously looking to work at American Tower should be very careful to ask the right questions through the interview process. ATC is truly a "big brother" type of company. Hopefully ATC is making changes to address the massive turnover and issues they see.

    Advice to Management

    actually listen to your employees.

    Pros

Stable company, decent benefits, laid back work environment.

    Cons

The work is mindless and there is no opportunity for growth, training is awful and pay is not consistent with the market. Upper management has no respect for employees and the majority of employees think upper management is a joke.

    Advice to Management

    Invest in your employees

I worked at American Tower full-time

    Pros

    - Benefits
    - Exciting growth at the company
    - Stock doing well

    Cons

    - Management is very old school, and you are constantly micromanaged, as they have no trust in their employees
    - No flexibility
    - A " I must see you in your seat working" mentality
    - No real culture (yet during the interview process you hear about the great culture)
    - Compensation is not comparable to other companies in the area

    Advice to Management

Take a step back and trust your employees. Flexibility and work life balance is a must in today working world. Compensation is sub-par so you must make up for that in other area such as flexibility and benefits.
