I worked at American Tower full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good for recent college grads as everything is manual and outdated software. Your able to take the experience and move to a better company

    Cons

Company is turning into a revolving door. They hire new talent who leaves within 1.5 yrs. Will not promote from within and constantly moving the positions to their corporate head quarters in Boston. Bonus were every quarter now once a year and retro a year. Raises 3% if your able to get it.

I have been working at American Tower full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great work-life balance, minimal expectation to take work home or work long hours.

    Cons

Very few opportunities for advancement and low salaries (management would argue that good benefits make up for low salaries)

    Advice to Management

Offer multiple benefits packages to cater to younger employees who would prefer cash-in-hand to a Cadillac health plan. Make professional development and retention a priority.

I have been working at American Tower full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There is a great opportunity to learn many aspects of the tower business, and American Tower has a wealth of resources to help you.

    Cons

    1. Compensation for Sales isn't aligned with company goals, and OTE, is low by many standards.
    2. There is often no sense of urgency internally unless you escalate to the highest levels.
    3. Everyone looks to the TMBD to sell, provide forecasts, develop relationships across the industry, resolve internal process issues, and generally be "where the buck stops," until it comes to compensation and recognition. It's as if the upper management still has no clear understanding of what is required of the role and the level of knowledge it takes to get through the day. As a result, turnover in this position has been very high. I've never worked so hard to make so little.

    Advice to Management

Get some better advice on how to structure compensation plans.

I worked at American Tower full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Co-workers are nice people. Good cafeteria. Some good benefits. Convenient commute.

    Cons

IT management very poor. Run by cliques. Everything is micromanaged. No growth or learning opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Business management should wake up and realize IT costs them way too much due to inefficiency and obfuscation.
