I worked at American Traffic Solutions full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The technology works. The technology is adaptable. This allows users to change settings, which can increase ticketing (revenues).

    Cons

Litigious and dishonest. The person who hired me was a Sr. Director reporting to the CEO. The recruiting firm hired to find me was also secretly hired to replace my boss. My boss was fired within 30 days after I was hired and I was fired some 60 days later. Before being hired, I was told I'd be expected to fire my entire staff and replace them with new technologies and educated professionals. Executives never released funding required to implement the new technologies, so the staff was not let go, and I was shown the door.

    Advice to Management

Planning is a necessity and patience is a virtue. You can't instantly get everything you want. Further, when a company's greatest expense is legal defense and offense, it can't be much of a company. Unfortunately, you must continue on this path as long as possible because this company is a reflection of you; you won't change and neither will ATS. Every day there are more people hoping for your demise.

    Pros

Not sure there is much positive to say about my experience at ATS

    Cons

I do not know where to start. Awful leadership, dysfunctional relationships between founders, invisible/laughable CEO.

    Advice to Management

Wake up - you have serious issues!

I worked at American Traffic Solutions as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

    location, good pay, free coffee.

    Cons

too much freedom for employees, horrible attitudes from co-workers, too much gossiping, and talking about people behind there backs. I feel so overwhelmed by working there from the employees in the shipping/receiving department. I will never go back there again!

    Advice to Management

Great Manager in the Shipping/receiving department!

I worked at American Traffic Solutions full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Focus on health, to include free yoga classes at lunchtime and after work a few days a week, as well as boot camp, health insurance blood tests and fitness exams/consultations. Boot camp after work seasonally when it's not too warm! Also built a walking track.

Aside from inter-office politics (very normal no matter where you work), I loved working in various positions here and found it to be very pleasant. They promote within, and all of the staff were very friendly when I worked there.

Security is greatly appreciated - hired guards and mandatory badges to enter doors on all floors make employees feel safe.

    Cons

Salaries are either on the lower end (about $13/hr), or very high ($100-250,000/yr). If you're in the middle/beginning of your career, you'll max out at about $45K and probably never see more. Top-heavy, and extremely high turnover rate for executive staff, aside from CEO/owner brothers and some key players.
**Heard of a high number of layoffs recently that hit mainly lower-level positions (call center and violation processing). These positions were also largely outsourced out of state.

Parking (although there is a brand new, huge covered garage) can be a nightmare! Sharing with a top-floor renter with a LOT of employees, it can be hectic and sometimes hard to find a spot, making one late.

    Advice to Management

Room for advancement was always a concern for me, however within 2 years I did get a great position within, along with great compensation to go with it. However, the structure was such that unless my supervisor left, I would not move ahead in that department.

I worked at American Traffic Solutions full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are a lot of bright and friendly people working for the IT department and in other departments. High growth company in a fast paced Agile environment.

    Cons

Poor management at the top resulted in a revolving door for middle management positions. Bad decisions in development priority resulting in an ever increasing tech debt. Agile environment without actual team empowerment due to micro-management from the top.

    Advice to Management

Better management of new growth vs. improving existing systems to be able to support new business.

I have been working at American Traffic Solutions full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Significant market growth opportunity. Career growth opportunity for hard workers. Interesting and relevant industry. Good benefits for smaller company. Leadership recognizes importance of employees’ family lives – flexible hours available if your position allows for it.

    Cons

Challenging environment is not for everyone – need ability to handle strong, sometimes brutally honest personalities. Very fast-paced, high-pressure, results-driven culture, which some employees might not enjoy.

    Pros

Management takes interest in employee welfare, cares what associates think about the company and they try to always improve. They pay standard rates, they don't try to get off cheap, but they don't shower you in cash. I have nothing bad to say about them.

    Cons

Can be hectic and disorganized, the result of too much success.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing. Please don't get to bureaucratic.
