I have been working at American Transport Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

If you work hard you will make good money (6 figures). Base salary is pretty standard for the industry and doesn't change much but you can make commission on top of that. You get what you put into it, which is why most people want to be in sales in the first place. Unlimited earning potential/no commission cap. Very accessible managers and owners who are willing to listen to any ideas you may have. Newer bonus plan on top of commission for extra $$. Fun, friendly co-workers, face-paced environment.

    Cons

Yes, there aren't many 'career advancement' opportunities as it is a flat-management structure (Sales Reps, Managers, and Owners...that's it) but wouldn't you rather make more money than have a fancy title anyways? I would

    Advice to Management

Ask employees if they have any suggestions that could be implemented in the company...we have lots of good ideas.

I have been working at American Transport Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Minimal oversight, no micromanaging, and all the resources you need. Fun place for "do-ers" and self starters.

    Cons

No career growth oppornties, no meritocracy. This is a pyramid scheme.

I worked at American Transport Group full-time

    Pros

Some great sales reps to learn from. Also, some horrible sales managers that play favorites. Casual attire is nice.

    Cons

Horrible commission structure. Way too much intra-office drama and lots of judgmental managers. There is just no room to grow within the company.

    Advice to Management

Revamp the commission structure completely. Let customer reps have the option to book their own freight too. Share accounts. Not 1 sales rep can handle all of the freight from a huge customer.

I worked at American Transport Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Training was well structured.

    Cons

Does very little to help new employees succeed. Let employees that have worked their longer take advantage of newer employee's hard work. Team managers have no training and often causes internal issues and high turnover.

    Pros

Relaxed atmosphere sometimes. Nice officer located in the west part of the city, easy to drive to and easy parking. Some good managers.

    Cons

Management does not really have a vision, will not share any information with you. No system in place to develop talent. Management spends time managing small accounts instead of going after big customers.

    Advice to Management

Spend time growing the business instead of small account management. Some of the managers clearly should not be in their positions based on past actions.

Great environment, managers open as well. Team work encouraged. Good job coming out of College.

I worked at American Transport Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice coworkers. Good benefits and pay. Good for young people. The owners care and are kind and approachable. HR is also approachable.

    Cons

I wouldn't recommend if you are a women. Those we work with in other companies trust men more and some even flirt or make absurd comments.

    Advice to Management

Keep up good work. Work on training and maybe hire someone who is more polite and compassionate to train employees in sales.
