I have been working at American Traveler full-time for less than a year

    Pros

American Traveler is a very professional organization. I highly recommend them for any traveler. Quick to respond to any questions, always helpful, always available, most importantly, always kind and understanding. Jacob Gibson is my recruiter and I could not have asked for anyone better than him. He has been here with me all the way from the beginning to my next assignment. Pay is always on time and always accurate. Travelers should give them at least one chance to find their next perfect assignment and when they do they will never go to another agency. Thank you American Traveler for all you do and will continue to do for me and my career.

    Cons

None and do not believe there every will be

    Pros

Position is challenging and engaging. Employees are given numerous resources to be their best. Management is always willing to work with you to help you improve, and co-workers are always available to answer questions and help out. I would recommend this company to anyone who is looking for a fast-paced, exciting career in healthcare compliance or staffing.

    Cons

The position can be stressful, but most issues can be resolved by staying organized and being proactive.

I have been working at American Traveler full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Excellent Training, supportive team, internal promotions, excellent pay, and an office environment that has created friendships well beyond the work space. Overall, a great place to work and grow professionally.

    Cons

As in any sales environment, there are going to be days that are more of a struggle, and sometimes unpredictable--but those who rise to the challenge are greatly rewarded!

I have been working at American Traveler full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Well thought out training for professionals new to the healthcare industry. Management works hard to give you more than enough tools to succeed to essentially operate autonomously. Regular corporate and team events. Great environment to be around due to the cohesion of employees and leadership. Limitless growth 100% due to what you put into your career.

    Cons

[For Consulting] Not for you if you aren’t self-motivated and lack the ability to engage clients and think creatively on your own. Not for you if you can’t handle the pressure of obtainable company set goals resulting in monetary benefits for yourself (it’s sales).

I worked at American Traveler full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The main pro was the awesome kitchen and lounge area. Also weekly treats and bi-annual happy hours were great perks. I had two different managers during my time here and I liked both of them. Most of the people that I worked with in my department were also very pleasant to work with. There were some nurses I worked with almost my entire time there that I loved working with.

    Cons

Well, first of all, there are 2 Consultants (recruiters) who should be fired immediately but never will be because they've been with the company for a long time. One of them is extremely condescending and the other will literally scream at you over the phone. Nurses can get away with anything, including being verbally abusive, because the Consultants don't want to lose the contract (read: money). I refuse to ever work with nurses in the future, it was that bad. The head honchos didn't seem to care much about my department and were focused on the Consultants. Another thing, which I hope they changed, was the vesting schedule for the 401k. It took a few years to be fully vested. Overall, good stepping stone for my career, but definitely not a career in and of itself. Not enough room for growth. Also, pay was relatively low.
