I have been working at American Trim full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I have worked at American Trim for over 30 years. I started out working in the factory and thanks to our tuition reimbursement program, I have been able to further my education and have been able to move into a salary role with the company. The people at all of the plants are like family to me.

    Cons

Because the people are like family, sometimes you have to put up with the "crazy uncle".

I have been working at American Trim full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

American Trim is a company that is not afraid to change with existing market conditions. I have never worked with a company that places as much emphasis on training as American Trim. The safety of it's employees is one of the core values. American Trim also looks to employees to help improve the processes. The people are what make it such a good place to work.

    Cons

The plant is not air conditioned and can get very hot in the summer.

    Advice to Management

    Keep listening to the employees.

I have been working at American Trim full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

40+ hours in 4 days,10 to 12 hour days, so work 4 off 3. But if the 5th day is offered overtime its time and a half

    Cons

HOT, VERY HOT, LOUD, VERY LOUD, must wear all PPE eye wear, ear plugs, hats, aprons. 10 to 11 hours and only 3 15 min breaks. Fast FAST pace. I've worked there over a year and a new employee started at the same pay as I'm making and she can not do 1/3 of the jobs I can do. Not fair or pay based on skills.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees according to their skill level.

I have been working at American Trim full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good work and willingness to grow is rewarded with advancement.
The company tries to promote from within when possible.
The company is willing to train those who want to learn.
Coworkers are good people that I enjoy working with.
I have a good supervisor who values me as a person.
Those at a professional level have satisfying, challenging responsibilities.
It's a family business, so management is motivated toward sustainability and building a legacy.
Management is proactive in making sure the business evolves to remain relevant.
    Benefits package has been improving.

    Cons

Manufacturing jobs are typically mundane and not in a pleasant environment.
Middle managers / supervisors throughout the company are hit and miss. The worst ones have a reputation for being tyrannical.
Pay typically is lagging behind, though not horribly so.
Some manufacturing associates are immature and unprofessional, and the lot suffers for it.

    Advice to Management

Look at areas with high turnover and evaluate the managers and supervisors in those areas. Retrain or replace them as necessary. Life is pretty good here if you have a supervisor you can trust.

I have been working at American Trim full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Every job is what you make of it. If you are always late, not interested in your work, or have poor work ethic, then don't be surprised when you're shown the door. There are many great qualities about American Trim that people do not mention, but I will share a few of the top ones.
-The management staff in all of the facilities are fair and forgiving.
-Everyone is very family oriented, from floor level up through management.
-Safety is the top level concern of everyone. There is no more important metric.

    Cons

Some of the cons are not necessarily cons. Again, it's what you decide to make of it.
-Some of the working hours are tough and the overtime can be overwhelming if you're not interested in overtime.
-There's one in every crowd - meaning some of the people (floor level especially) can be difficult to work with as they feel they are entitled individuals that deserve some preferential treatment that they have in no way earned. This is not a reflection of the general American Trim population as I personally enjoy ALL of the folks that I work with on a daily basis. But let's be honest, we know these people exist at every job.
-Break time could be a little longer, especially in the summer when it's warmer outside.

    Advice to Management

Keep being honest and fair to the employees. The average seniority is fairly high and there's a reason for that. Don't let the bottom line come between what's made you a multi-million dollar company and making even more money. It all starts with the people, and they need to know it, understand it, and more-so, believe it.
