I worked at American Water Resources Association full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

AWRA has an extraordinary mission that is easy to be passionate about. The people who work there, the volunteers who serve on the Board and help plan and execute the scientific & research meetings, and the members of the association are diverse, engaged, and likeable. The small office atmosphere is truly run like a family business, and is very family friendly.

    Cons

The workload can be stressful, and while the people who do choose to join are typically loyal, it is challenging to grow the membership. Although, since my departure, I believe they have made strides in this area.
