I worked at Ameriforge full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great honest hard work for high energy individuals, lots of opportunity to learn a lot about metallurgical processes and predictable scheduling (for the most part)

    Cons

Much of the equipment is in various states of disrepair and often isn't fixed unless it makes the situation exceedingly unsafe, as a new employee I was told to hop on a truck (manipulator) and learn very complex tasks first time with absolutely zero guidance, safety meetings/tests involved an answer key no direct discussion, no training just fill in the multiple choice, numerous OSHA violations, and for the type of work the pay drastically undervalues it's employees.

    Advice to Management

You have employees that are 8-15 year veterans telling you it took them years to master tasks you expect from greenhorns, training needs structure and should be relevant to the job being performed. Pay your employees what they are worth, it's not flipping burgers you are standing in front of 4,000+lbs of yellow steel it's filthy and hot and your employees disserve to make a livable wage. You can plaster safety banners all over the place but I received no real on the job safety training, the only formal safety training was for operating machines we didn't use.

I worked at Ameriforge full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Friendly employees. Good products. Flexible work schedule. A place to get a paycheck.

    Cons

Morale is very low due to a tyrannical CEO that micro manages every aspect of the business, doesn't care about the employees one bit and doesn't trust them. Compensation is below average for the industry throughout the company perhaps for the exception of sr. management. There are no raises. They eliminated the bonus program for all intensive purposes by making it unattainable. Managers in the group I was in have no business managing people. They have little to no experience in outside sales and are unable to see anything from a customer's perspective. There are also no growth opportunities here.

    Advice to Management

The deep rooted problems at this company start at the top. It seems they are hiring Executive V.P.'s by the dozen, making questionable decisions and not hiring any people that actually keep the boat afloat. Typical problem of "too many Chiefs and not enough Indians".

I have been working at Ameriforge full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Paycheck and a good commute

    Cons

Senior management constantly drives a gap between workers. Not enough support to complete a task. Management conflicts within company causes confusion and strife. Bonuses are available only to senior managers.

    Advice to Management

Offer your employees incentives and give them your support. Let them be a part of the Ameriforge team.

    Pros

Employees are very friendly, management usually supportive of ideas that are beneficial to both employees and company and the office environment is pretty normal and peaceful.

    Cons

There can be a lot of red-tape when it comes to getting things done. The Company could have more events for it's employees such as luncheons or annual picnics for employees and their families.

    Advice to Management

Don't undervalue the knowledge of your employees, they could have brilliant ideas and never get the opportunity to express them. All employees are valuable and should not be seen as just "workers".

    Cons

when business was great it was a great place to work for when the bottom fell out it was an extremely stressful place to work for. we were made to feel like our every action was placed under a microscope and that the lack of business was our fault

    Pros

There is some nice equipment in the plant and some very good support personnel.

    Good work life balance

    Cons

Senior management is very unprofessional and seeks to drive a culture of fear and retribution.

No career growth or development unless you have relationships outside of work with key business leaders.

Many key personnel have left the company becuase of the work environment, leaving key roles filled by people who may not have the experience or education to do the job right.

    Poor loyalty to customers.

    Advice to Management

Treat others in a manner to where they want to work for you.

    Pros

Paid holidays, benefits package is ok.
Many smart people working here, though most of them are looking for other jobs.

    Cons

Very negative culture driven from the top down. Unprofessional communication from senior management.

    Poor relationships with customers

Nothing being done to develop people within the business, we are all in a holding pattern until the company can be sold

    Advice to Management

People matter, you might not think they do, but you are mistaken. They matter.
