I have been working at Ameriprise Auto & Home Insurance full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Goals are very attainable. Great management, they work with you if you're falling behind in a certain goal. They dont threaten your job like some companies do. Great benefits. You can buy an extra week of vacation. But really they give you alot even your first year (about 3 weeks) its PTO/Sick time. Lots of opportunity for advancement into other positions.

    Cons

Work can get repetitive, but that's to be expected anywhere.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work!

I have been working at Ameriprise Auto & Home Insurance full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great benefits, you work remote from home.

    Cons

They micromanage you, you must learn a massive amount of information and they're not always upfront with the detailed changes they make to the customers policies and leave you there to explain everything. The billing system is dated and so you must be able to do basic math to calculate billing changes and prorated amounts. Also the salary is not nearly enough for the amount of responsibility and work you do.

    Advice to Management

Increase pay, update billing system and be more transparent with employees about their jobs regarding the sale to American family insurance. Employees have been told very little regarding their future employment salaries and benefits. Some hedge even been advised to update their resumes.

    Pros

Decent pay, Great Benefits, Generous PTO

    Cons

Company cut commission on sales- best employees are paid less. Micromanaging items like average call time, requiring near perfect call audits, taking away relationship between agents and clients besides initial phone call

I have been working at Ameriprise Auto & Home Insurance full-time

    Pros

Pay is competitive when just starting the position, they pay for and handle your insurance licenses in multiple states, PTO is plentiful and overall benefits are great

    Cons

Overtime is a constant year round, management doesn't seem to fully appreciate agents who have put in time and paid their dues. Work/Life balance can be hard depending on schedule availability and season. Not much room for advancement

I have been working at Ameriprise Auto & Home Insurance full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great benefits and support from Ameriprise. Good people that are willing to help. Attempt to make a better company.

    Cons

Leaders have agendas. Turn over in top leadership and many new people. Locations do not appear as one company.

    Advice to Management

Learn to listen. New CEO has listening sessions but nothing comes of the feedback. Do not see senior leaders saying the same thing as him. Leaders make it very clear that taking care of employees is #3 priority.

I worked at Ameriprise Auto & Home Insurance full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great benefits and compensation, excellent training program and management (at least ones I dealt with directly), flexibility with large amount of PTO and ability to schedule around conflicts if call volume allows. Ability to work from home if performance is good.

    Cons

Issues with having sales stolen on a regular basis, recent changes make closing sales over the phone extremely difficult (most everything has to be sent in the mail), expectation of a high call volume so if you are a quality over quantity person (like me) this may be a bad fit. EXTREMELY metrics based, everything is monitored (which could be a positive for some people).

    Advice to Management

Hold employees accountable for sloppy work. Almost 100% of my bad customer experiences were from another employee not setting expectations. Especially given the huge change in sales procedures (and how counterintuitive many of these are for clients to understand), setting expectations should be the #1 requirement of sales agents. Documentation should be included in this, as many agents had nothing documented even on... extremely complex clients.
