    Pros

    It is a job.

    Cons

Their pay and benefits suck. You have to call 50 people, departments, and agencies every time you breathe.

    Advice to Management

    Find real jobs.

    Pros

It's fast-paced, fun, you get to play games for a job, get along well with team members.

    Cons

Standing for long periods. Short breaks, break room is very far. You may get stuck on a boring game for your entire shift.

    Advice to Management

    I'd only advise better communication.

    Pros

Best General Manager ever. He will listen to your concerns and try to address them. Overall good people to work with. Some good and excellent supervisors in EVS and other departments. Great team members for the most part.

    Cons

Where do I start? The managers of EVS are really bad and do not promote respect for the
EVS team. One of the managers spy and prey on employees. Another manager lies and tries to cover up wrong doings. Pay for the team members are low and do get a wage increase. Human Resources tends to NOT be proactive. They tend to lie about how things are going and be "stuck on stupid". This Casino has a high turnover rate. It comes down to different management styles (or the lack there of from managers and department heads) and the issue of negative and disrespectful guests. Pinnacle Entertainment has messed up Ameristar. I will never recommend EVS or Security to no one.

    Advice to Management

Let's try to listen and be honest to the employees. Work on the constant pain points that current and former employees have. Human Resources needs to focus more on helping employees, not settling on losing employees ( if items can be fixed). EVS managers at Ameristar Kansas City needs to be given the boot. They DO NOT contribute anything to the department. Give reasonable raises for those who work hard and have put in years in their department(s).

    Pros

The Security Department is considered the "foot in the door" to transfer to other better paying casino positions.

    Cons

Although the job title is "Security Officer", you are nothing more than a person who stands at post checking IDs or walking around constantly for eight hours checking IDs (again) and wristbands. Painfully boring with no real advancement opportunities unless you transfer departments. $13/hour with gaming badge, $12/hr without. No raise for a minimum of one year. No one lasts that long. No additional pay for working holidays, but it is mandatory that we work ALL holidays.

    Advice to Management

What is taught in orientation is all flowers and butterflies; "Management are your stewards." In reality, management views you as a temporary employee who will quit after 4-6 months, even though turnover is about 120% per year, Ameristar does not invest in employee retention.

    Pros

The Employees are awesome. Its a good place to work.

    Cons

Certain Managers are only out for themselves. They don't listen to what team members are saying.

    Advice to Management

You need to hire more compassionate Managers. Listen to what the team members are saying.

    Pros

Great hard working people. Can be a fun environment.

    Cons

Long hours, not a lot of recognition. No investment in career growth.

    Advice to Management

Strengthen the leadership team there. GM is new and needs to be better at interacting with people.

    Cons

Ameristar is a smoke filled enviroment and sometimes its just too much to handle. They are open 365 days a year.

    Advice to Management

They have plenty of advancement opportunities at Ameristar as long as you are what they consider to be a great fit.

I worked at Ameristar Casinos (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very friendly staff to work with, great benefits, and fun environment. You can easily transfer to different positions through out the casino and really make the casino a career.

    Cons

Open on every single holiday, very strict about appearance policies such as nail Polish color and hair color, open 24/7 depending on what job you have. Very corporate if you don't like that kind of a thing.

    Advice to Management

Most everything was handled greatly by the management staff. Sometimes things could get a little overwhelming at times and the work could get a little strenuous but the management team was always good about helping the staff.
