I have been working at Amherst College part-time

    Pros

If you can get a job working directly with a professor it's good experience and helps you get to know the faculty better

    Cons

depends on the professor-- some are more difficult to work with than others (but I've never had a negative experience)

I worked at Amherst College part-time

    Pros

All of the staff and professors are extremely kind and supportive. Any part time work you do at Amherst is generally quite flexible. You simply have to be open and communicate well.

    Cons

Generally all of the part time jobs for students only pay minimum wage. You might serve as a teaching assistant getting paid $12/hr doing the work private tutors do for $40/hr+.

    Advice to Management

I would give the same advice to management here that I would to management at fast-food chains: pay your workers a fair wage for their efforts, commensurate with their skill and expertise!

I have been working at Amherst College part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Stable employment, great campus, good benefits

    Cons

Extremely liberal, with zero tolerance for any opposing or non-liberal points of view.

    Advice to Management

There's a reason why employee morale and engagement is extremely low. Hopefully the employee survey will shed some light on the real reasons. Senior administrators are very smart, but talk at us and not to us.
