I worked at Amica Insurance full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good benefits: medical, dental, vision, paid vacation, paid training and education, matching 401K, pension, all expenses paid retirement banquet w/guest in Rhode Island

    Cons

Stressful job answering constant customer calls. Requires excellent work load management and requires overtime to keep up with large work load.

    Advice to Management

I have been working at Amica Insurance full-time

    Pros

The benefits package is much better than most! From the local branches to corporate headquarters, the environment is positive and family- like. The advancement opportunities are endless and are even better if you're in management and willing to be relocated. Upper management is approachable.

    Cons

Limited room for growth if you don't stay mobile and willing to relocate. Extensive interview process. (The reward of getting the job is worth it.) No consistency in trainings. Difficulty finding up-to-date resources, so a heavy reliance on peer knowledge.

    Advice to Management

Universal training program for each role (with state specific information added, of course) Easier to access, relevant resources in one location Promote from within the branches/offices Keep the family feel and great benefits

I have been working at Amica Insurance full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The benefits are decent, but are comparative to other companies.

    Cons

Promotions are not based on the work you put in but rather the length of time you've been there or when they feel it is necessary. Salaries are low and difficult to survive on.

    Advice to Management

In order to have healthy and engaged employees, you must recognize those who put the work in and reward them for that. To keep employees engaged you must show appreciate for your employees as they ultimately make you look better.

I worked at Amica Insurance full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

I started at Amica in 2009. It was a great place to work at that time. Great people with long tenured employees and customers. Great benefits and pay. Positive place to work in the beginning. I loved my job for so long.

      Cons

Things changed over the years. The environment became less positive. Very strict and micromanaging. Customer service went downhill. Hiring of inexperienced young employees (I'm assuming to pay less). Even retiring employees constantly mentioned how they couldn't wait to get out of that place and were happy when they did. I miss working there but everyone that's there still warns me not to come back. Just not the same...

      Advice to Management

Management doesn't take advice so no point here trying to be heard. And also, you can only be promoted to management if you're willing to move out of state.

I have been working at Amica Insurance full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

Inbound calls nice peers to work with

      Cons

even if you have a college education Company would rather hire someone with no real life experience, never owning a home, and no insurance background than promote its own hard working people - if you are over 40 you can forget about getting promoted you are way too old

      Advice to Management

develop staff that has good experience and loyalty instead of hiring clueless people with no experience directly out of college - they do not appreciate what they have and will use AMICA and then go somewhere else or worse they will drive away loyal workers who are in fact college educated maybe over 40 and also loyal. this unfair practice of hire from the outside first breeds resentment - the managers are way too young...
