I have been working at Amkor full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Respected owner (even though he rarely is around), beautiful new office building, generous employee benefits (healthcare, dental, vision, matching 401-K, disability, life insurance, etc.), above average pay, great co-workers.

    Cons

Some members of senior management are truly great bosses, some rule by inducing fear in their subordinates and show favoritism towards others, no career mapping support for employees.

    Advice to Management

Lots of good people work hard at Amkor now; help them with training , guidance and opportunities to grow within the company.

    Pros

Being a small company there are many opportunities to engage with senior management. Found that personnel in operations, accounting, IT and engineering were extremely helpful and did not have a protectionist mentality.

    Cons

Publicly traded company but most of the stock is owned by a single family who controls the direction of the company. It's a small company so there are lots of opportunities for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Senior management should instill a culture where their managers are also focused of the development of their employees not just their own careers.

I worked at Amkor (More than a year)

    Pros

To some degree you got to help call the shots within parts of the environment.

    Cons

Review processes were pretty unstructured. Not sure what the point of it when everyone has an annual review at the same time w/o post direction. Since its in the semiconductor when the smartphone/technology industry suffers. the employees suffer. Work-life balance was terrible and the worst I've ever had to endure in all my years of on-call. the IT department was incredibly lean for the amount of employees which were serviced which caused the work-life balance issues.

    Advice to Management

I would advise on more thorough review processes not just top down but from down up. You should have periodic surveys to gauge employee feelings.
