I worked at Amphenol as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Get lots of hands on experience, given freedom to explore and do projects. They let you take initiative to really get your hands dirty and make improvements. If you are looking for a first internship in an engineering facility, this is a great place to look

    Cons

Sometimes the work given to interns is the boring/monotonous work that the full time engineers do not want to do. If you are hoping to learn a ton and shadow an engineer on the job, this is not the place. You do get plenty of experience, but at times get flooded with the work that no one else wants to do.

    Advice to Management

Take advantage of the energy that most interns/coops come in with. The more freedom you give, the more they will want to come back and work for AAO full time.

    Cons

Be careful which position, shift, title, etc. that you take with this compny because it may be hard if not impossible to advance to another position, shift, title, etc within the company.

    Pros

The pay is very good , benefits are ok , most of the people there want to do a good job and want to make a good product.

    Cons

The management is out of touch , the new managers have no clue how to run the factory and i fear in the long run we will see the rest of our jobs go overseas. The older managers are afraid to stand up to management for fear of losing their jobs ! a very sad situation.

    Advice to Management

Start listening to the people that know how to make good parts , take away the fear factor in management they do know what they are doing.

    Pros

Balance of work and life is possible depending on what position you are at. The people and culture is very nice and laid back. Dress code is business causal.

    Cons

Managment is under heavy stress due to the lack of staffing and the large amount of growth within the company. People tend to get spread way to0 thin. Heavy work load at the top due to size of managment force. Salaries can vary depending on location.

    Advice to Management

Continue to look for high level canidates for positions, look to expand staffing.
