I worked at Amsterdam Hospitality full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay was decent for those unfamiliar with the field or without a degree. Friendly staff, and management, great learning experience

    Cons

Some software was outdated, the pay rate sucked for the educated, no room for advancement, and long periods of standing

    Advice to Management

Please give your agents some chairs and give the guest free wifi, its the #1 reason why the hotels do not move on on trip advisor, its 2016 please get up to date on required accommodations

    Pros

Not an easy place to succeed, but iron sharpens iron.

    Cons

Aggressive ownership. They will run you over if you let them.

    Advice to Management

A slightly more employee-centric approach could yield profit.

The Podolsky family is a nightmare with the exception of one or two.

    Advice to Management

Sell the business, or let Lee and Justin take over 100%

I worked at Amsterdam Hospitality full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Many great people to work with and learn from, pay was "so-so"

    Cons

No potential for advancement whatsoever, frequent threats and fear-mongering regarding job security, mandatory participation in a crooked union whose higher-ups were facing criminal charges, no benefits, no participation in actual Hotel Workers Union, shady financial practices, management was very hands-off and intimidating, two managers often made VERY offensive references to foreign guests and used racial slurs, rampant scheduling changes without notice. Amsterdam, especially the property I worked for, seems to be a revolving door. Employees frequently complained of mistreatment by Mgmt and fear of losing their jobs when owners were around. It was a very hostile work environment. Don't let the interview phase fool you!

    Advice to Management

This company should not exist. Give it up. Sell to someone who actually cares about their employees, properties, and guests.

Job security if you're good at your job and don't cost them too much. Some really great people work there.

    Cons

Tough often ruthless ownership. Little employee appreciation.

    Advice to Management

Make real Investments into employee relations.

    Pros

Money, if you're strategic. A fair bonus is unlikely.

    Cons

Work/life balance. Upper management. Turnover is high. Treatment is dismal. Expect a lot of yelling in the office and anxiety over job security.

    Advice to Management

The family that owns the company doesn't receive advice well. This question is N/A.

    Pros

Very diverse community of employees. HQ is in a great location in the Mid-Upper West Side of NYC. Stable employment is almost guaranteed if you can perform your duties as expected.

    Cons

No employer contribution into 401k. For a lot of people, there has not been any growth for over 5 years. Going beyond the call of duty often goes unnoticed.
