    Negative Outlook

I worked at Amway full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great Coworkers, great cafeteria although it is expensive,

    Cons

Poor Management, Poor Pay, Poor Vacation, The company is operating as a 12 billion dollar company when it is only a 8 billion dollar company. Upper management has been pushing through projects that the market does not want and other departments know it will not succeed. There have been so many projects like this and the last one costly 50 million. Amway dose a lot of internships in hopes of hiring them before they have a chance to interview and find out how low of a wage and bad Amway's benefits and vacation package is.

    Advice to Management

Start treating your staff like people, Stop steeping on everyone to advance your career and take responsibility for your errors.

I worked at Amway full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Excellent benefits, bonus program, competitive salaries, casual dress code, international exposure, employee training opportunities, ability to move around to different areas

    Cons

Culture is slow to change, very niche industry, not good at leveraging technology, concerns about future of company once founder passes away, sustainability of direct selling model

    Advice to Management

Work to cut back on the consensus culture, attract younger workforce, use technology to benefit the business - don't let IT run the business - be willing to reward fast action but also tolerate failure and learn from it

I worked at Amway as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked as a Regulatory Technician in the Regulatory Affairs department for about a year and a half via Adecco. The people I worked with were all great and taught me valuable skills that I am using to pursue a career in this field. My manager was also exceptionally accommodating and respected the work/life balance that all employees need. The atmosphere was very laid back, casual attire, and no fixed time to come in (I could come in between 6AM and 9AM as long as I put in my 8 hours). Rate of pay is also higher than working in a lab as a recent science grad. Definitely recommend it as a place to start your career, even if you are a contractor. :)

    Cons

The line between employees and contractors is clearly drawn (smaller cubes, etc.), but I never felt disrespected or looked down on due to this difference.

I have been working at Amway full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great pay, benefits, flexible hours, family friendly activities.
On-site gym & company store with great discounts.
Very kind employees & management with long term interests & growth in mind.

    Cons

Not much. Some areas are harder to move up, due to many senior employees, but that is also helpful to develop talent.

    Advice to Management

Keep trying to move faster. Keep aiming to develop & retain younger talent. Keep working to improve reputation among younger people.

I have been working at Amway full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Strong values, great concern for staff, excellent pay & benefits.
Great opportunities for Gen-Y's & Millennials.
Many opportunities to get involved in volunteering & community.
Many opportunities for excellent in-house education around leadership for those in top-talent pool.

    Cons

    Very few cons.
Options for 50+ have diminished drastically in the last several years (2014 on).

Since late-2015, communication from Senior Leadership to Managers and Supervisors has been stifled. Strategic decisions had been the territory of all leaders, now lower levels are being told what to do without input from the front-line leadership (MGRs, Supervisors); this is especially true in Engineering circles.

    Advice to Management

Ensure the corporate values flow down to to all levels.
