Industry Leading Benefits/Lack of vision beyond next quarterly statement

      Pros

Combine PTO with 9/80 schedule and paid holidays and you work less days than a school teacher. Great bonus program and benefits package. Peer leading maternity/paternity leave. If you have the unfortunate luck of being marooned in Midland you are paid a 25% “geographic premium” which means a big fat paycheck, and the bar for Midland employees’ work product is pretty low. A culture that fosters physical fitness, I.e. beautiful fitness centers (at The Woodlands campus) and long lunches. Cafes are exquisite and prices for food are low in The Woodlands campus. The community around The Woodlands office is amazingly beautiful, well thought-out, and cheap! Most managers are accommodating to flexible and unique work schedules. Bottom line, if you are willing to put up with a crappy culture and lucky enough to be in working in The Woodlands office it’s like getting paid to do almost nothing and living/working in Disney World.

      Cons

Management at all levels are inept, which is shocking given the size of the company. Corporate culture went in the crapper in the downturn and never recovered. Midland office debacle. Denver office in peril of closing.

      Great Environment & Benefits

      Pros

      - All the perks (401K, medical, dental...plus more) - Great PTO based on your age, plus 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off) - On location gyms and cafeterias. - Abilities to learn and grow your knowledge - Great culture, company values are repeated often - Located in a safe, northern part of Houston. - Covered and monitored parking garages - Free subscription of Rosetta stone, if interested in learning a new language

      Cons

      - Not too many roles to grow into, aside from manager of the department. - Currently not great to be in the oil industry (company recently had major layoffs) - Individual offices keep employees from easily communicating with one another. It keeps employees more closed off, unless they get up and walk to someones office. - Harder to make connections with most of the employees, due to it being a large company.

A Company that Cares - New parental leave policy is a gamechanger

      Pros

Aside from the 9/80 schedule, great retirement benefits, generous PTO allocation and opportunity for bonus - the newest parental leave policy is a game changer for my family. After utilizing the short-term disability, I was able to take an additional 4 weeks of paid time off to be with our newest addition. It gave me the peace of mind that I could take the time I needed to bond and develop our new normal after our family grew. After I returned, I was offered an awesome opportunity which was also comforting to know that while I was out being a mom, my career didn't suffer.

      Cons

None that I can think of at this time.

      Perfect Summer Internship

Aug 1, 2016 - ITS Intern III in The Woodlands, TX

      Business Outlook

      Pros

*Autonomy- You get an entire project that actually will be utilized by the company to yourself *Access- Nothing and no one is off limits. You can schedule meetings with managers and directors and really get to know the company from the inside out. *Training- No other internship provides as much hands on experience. *Culture- They love the interns and it shows. You will be spoiled! *Schedule- You can work a 9/80 schedule--> Every other Friday off!

      Cons

*Out in the Woodlands- Long commute if you live in Houston and lots of traffic at the end of the day *Pay- Might be slightly lower (like 5-10%) than some big firms HOWEVER the bonus averages everything out. *Job opportunities- At this time, oil and gas is obviously low so hiring has taken a bit of a hit. HOWEVER, they are always seeking college hires and they do intend to hire at least a couple of people out of the intern groups every year.

Amazing when I started, not so now

      Pros

Anadarko has some amazing benefits. You are offered a significant amount of PTO based on your age, and a lot of on site perks. And of course the 9/80 schedule is amazing.

      Cons

They changed the bonus structure which significantly decreased. Very political. It's all about who you know. A lot of good people where laid off. I know a girl who received Needs improvement on her review and is still there while some one who received exceeds expectations was let go. The amount of management positions is absolutely ridiculous, and majority of time they are not even competent to have the position. And whatever you do, do not go to HR. They are not on your side!

      Accounting Summer Internship

Aug 1, 2016 - Accounting in The Woodlands, TX
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Access to all levels of management due to the open door policy, opportunities to make meaninful contributions by performing value-added duties, strong emphasis on developing presentation skills and interacting with upper management, core values are central to all aspects of the company and are highly enforced, incredible amenities and work-life balance (9/80 schedule, on-site cafeterias and fitness centers).

      Cons

Long internship (13 weeks) and rigorous work schedule can force you to change your summer plans to be able to complete the internship. The business is obviously sensitive to commodity prices, so interning during a down period reveals some discouraged outlooks among the full-time employees.

      Uncertain future

      Aug 30, 2016 - Anonymous Employee

      Business Outlook

      Pros

PTO is good, 9/80 schedule, reasonable pay, 401k matching, great facilities (office, gym, cafeteria), friendly culture, no micromanaging, Metro van subsidy, sometimes interesting work.

      Cons

Lots of managers, limited ability to advance. Broken review process, some silos. No raises or promotions last year, stock based bonus eliminated. There were layoffs earlier this year. The company should implement paternity leave as a benefit if it truly cares about family and community.
