I worked at Anadarko Petroleum full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

On site gym, cafeteria, and starbucks.

    Cons

"The buddy system" all throughout IT. The directors play favorites and are puppets. All good things left when the former CEO stepped down.

    Advice to Management

If you are going to advertise "core values" such as "people and passion," "open communication," "Servant Leadership" etc...then practice them. (Mainly the directors)

    Pros

Good Company with great core values and culture, great amenities, and location

    Cons

Massive change in leadership and poor communication of Permian execution and move plan, too much debt, last two years have been hard for most employees

    Advice to Management

Go back to the culture established by Jim Hackett and the original core values, accept brutal honest technical tension.

I worked at Anadarko Petroleum as a contractor (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great project engineers and project teams that appreciate and recognize your contributions to the team. Your opinion and input will be heard and given consideration despite the individuals mentioned in the "Cons" below.

    Cons

You work in a matrix organization where you also report to project controls management and your assignments are determined by this side of the matrix. Know-little, do-little individuals are often rewarded advancement, given the best opportunities, and praised for analytical production or processes that you were instrumental in designing, building and implementing. Applies to some in PC mgmt. not all.
