I have been working at Anadarko Petroleum full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

9/80 work schedule offers amazing flexibility in scheduling. Great work-life balance. The benefits are phenomenal and the people are also great. Overall the culture suffered a bit when the prices of oil fell and layoffs happened, but it is recovering and management is doing an awesome job at pulling everyone together by focusing on core values. Parking/RTD passes are paid for. Gym subsidies. Competitive salaries... the list goes on and the benefits seem endless. Overall a fantastic company to work for!!!

    Cons

The turnover that the low oil prices has created has put a bit of strain on the people who still remain workload-wise. Nothing unmanageable.

    Pros

9/80 schedule and solid PTO plan is great. The health benefits and 401K matching are also quite good relative to industry peers.

    Cons

Hard work and brand loyalty is completely unappreciated and unrecognized. Also, high performers have actually gotten low balled on their salaries post-layoffs but have had to take on three times the workload of the many low performers who were given an outstanding severance. Seems kinda backwards to me. If those who stayed are "top performers" than you'd better start taking care of them.

    Advice to Management

The era in which the great Jim Hackett had set a core value standard and an industry precedent for is gone. Anadarko truly was a top company but in the absence of quality leadership has lost its way. It's no longer about loyalty and dedication, it's simply about who you know. Shame on you Anadarko - Mr. Hackett would be appalled by this.

    Pros

Amazing benefits and competitive pay. Outstanding facilities and amenities.

    Cons

At this time, morale seems to be very low. When it's good, it's amazingly good. When it's bad, it's not so good.

    Advice to Management

Please recognize the worker bees and help them advance instead of creating more "leadership" positions that are not really vital to the department

I have been working at Anadarko Petroleum full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The work life balance is quite amazing. The environment allows you to become your best and work in peace. I would definitely recommend working here.

    Cons

There are not too many cons that come to mind. The company is pretty well rounded overall. The environment is amazing and the pay is competitive.

    Advice to Management

The company overall is amazing. The most difficult part is advancement because people don't tend to retire much here! I for sure understand why.

I worked at Anadarko Petroleum full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The benefits are good, salaries are competitive for the industry, most people have private office and work hours are flexible.

    Cons

The down turn in oil and gas prices has been challenging for management to deal with.

    Advice to Management

The company needs to return to the values adopted during the Jim Hackett tenure. They have gotten off course and need to reexamine their recent behavior.

I worked at Anadarko Petroleum full-time

    Pros

Competitive pay for performance environment; good benefits (medical/dental/vision, 401k, EAP). Collaborative environment, latest technology available, flexible hours, 9/80's, PTO is based on age and not years of service

    Cons

Always more work than resources available, ongoing projects, who you know gets you moving up the career ladder faster

    They care about their employees

    Cons

They insist on movement within the company to avoid stagnation, but sometimes it seems just for the sake of movement

    Pros

Lots of vacation days. Killer benefits. Work with a great bunch of guys. They encourage you to take classes and broaden your knowledge of your profession.

    Cons

Management likes to micro manage and it is only getting worse. It's hurting the company and productivity in the field. They need to cool it or will start to loose employees once other companies start to hire again.

    Advice to Management

You should focus more on making it a better place to work and retaining your employees.
