Midland office debacle
Oct 3, 2018 - Anonymous Employee in Midland, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Potential to be employed by a well-established, successful public oil and gas company that provides a well rounded benefits and comp package.
Cons
The decision to move the Delaware Basin asset team to Midland from The Woodlands has resulted in 55-60% attrition, to date, in the Land department as well as considerable turnover in other disciplines as well. This attrition has resulted in a serious culture catastrophe. Employees no longer trust middle and upper management due to the disastrous outcome of the decision to move people out to Midland without consideration of the cost of living in Midland and general decrease of quality of life in the area, coupled with the lack of succession-planning once most of the teams inevitably left the company after their retention bonus term expired. As a Land professional, I would discourage others from joining Anadarko in Midland. There has been absolutely no benefit of moving the asset team “closer to the action” to Midland due to the handcuffs and red tape internal policies on doing deals and developing new business that Land professionals face internally with the Company.

Great pay, great benefits, good vacation time
Cons
Anadarko is no longer the great company it used to be, upper management is not transparent, very little trust of management in general, lots of favoritism, no longer holding true to their values, people are scared to speak up because of retaliation
