I worked at Analog Devices (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Easy work schedules. Work-life balance.

    Cons

Crap political environment. Stupid company run by Test engineering people who have no clue how to design good parts, inspire engineers and win business. Outdated practices of doing everything. Nothing is done on time. 50-75% of the projects get delayed or cancelled. Very low compensation which is 25% below industry. Company can not hire key talent from California semi companies or any employee in the top 5 semi companies of the world because the pay is crap. RSU bonus is 1/3rd of industry norm. No one not one single one key hire over the last 10-12 years made a difference to this company. Every single acquisition made by this company in the last 15 years was botched and screwed up. Over payed by 50% for Linear. Spectacular failures from marketing and engineering to deliver on key design sockets.

    Advice to Management

Fire your middle management. Sell ADI to a better company.

I have been working at Analog Devices full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and access to any resource to help you do your job better. Great profit sharing. An overall sence that leadership is there to help the individual contributer be productive.

    Cons

Middle management out of touch. Too much focus on strategic (long term) efforts and not tactical (day to day). Many current programs are starved of people causing missed deadlines and employee stress.

    Advice to Management

    Verify information at all levels

I have been working at Analog Devices (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great work/life balance. You get to work with great people who are very smart and you get to work with cutting edge technology. The new CEO seems aggressive and is fast tracking the advance of the company (although this has led to more layoffs with the acquisitions).

    Cons

Lots of red tape with many many layers of middle management and inefficiencies as a result of the red tape. Lots of paper work that accompanies red tape. Salaries could be higher.

    Advice to Management

Organize the structure to minimize red tape. ADI is a stellar company otherwise.

I have been working at Analog Devices full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There is great work life balance but often experience a feast or famine

    Cons

New CEO is very aggressive and a long term player.

    Advice to Management

    1. Too much red tape and politics of marketing managers and no accountability of managers who are too comfortable in their roles for a long time.
    2. Company still does not understand fully how important digital design is compared to analog design.
    3. Many managers are stuck with old thinking and don't recognize value and talent.

I have been working at Analog Devices full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

This is a great company that honestly considers their employees to be their greatest asset. Anyone can walk into a senior manager's office, express their opinion, and be taken seriously. Continuous improvement is baked into the culture. At 50+ years old, an amazing number of people have been there for 20-30+ years. Especially in high tech, that says a lot.

    Cons

Acronyms, code names and other jargon impede communication.

    Advice to Management

Mostly outsourced, impersonal recruiting dehumanizes applicants.

    Pros

Great Leadership from upper management. Bonus and Compensation are competitive. Respectful and pleasant working conditions.

    Cons

Middle management could use some coaching...Remember, it takes money to make money. Depending on location. They seem to keep the good ol' boy system going. They don't try to put money into new blood because they are spending to much on the old blood whom are no longer relevant.

    Advice to Management

Make the old blood contribute as much as the new blood...After all you are paying them twice as much. Also if you have a middle manager whom seems to be forgetting things...it may be time for them to retire. If they don't wish to retire, move them into a position with little effect on the rest of us.

    -Way to many group reorganizations
