I worked at Anchin Block & Anchin (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, friendly environment and co-workers

    Cons

Manager was not organized, no clear communication

    Advice to Management

Be more organized, clear, and have better communication. Also build a team that can grow and stay permanently in that role so that management can have more support during the peak months.

    Pros

Great firm with great clients. Wonderful opportunity to gain valuable experience.

    Cons

Success at the firm is dependent on the management's bias. Hard to move up of you don't belong to the right crowd.

I worked at Anchin Block & Anchin full-time

    Pros

I really enjoyed working at Anchin, but eventually went in a different direction with my career. I always felt there was an opportunity, especially if you went after it. A lot of vacation time and flexibility.

    Cons

Cost of Medical benefits and 401(k) match. Low performing people that want to blame the system.

    Advice to Management

Ignore the disgruntled employees that were probably terminated for performance issues but fail to take ownership.

I have been working at Anchin Block & Anchin full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

People here are great, client base is excellent, work is interesting and challenging, and there is one supervisor who is always doing work around here.

    Cons

Bonuses seem to be in line with other accounting firms, however the firm should attempt to be a leader in this category which would reduce turnover.

I worked at Anchin Block & Anchin full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some partners are really smart and actually working like others.

It's 60k decent starting salary as a public accountant, even beat a few big 4.

    Cons

It's completely a seasonal business firm. You can have nothing to do even before the end of normal busy seasons. They over hired ppl and fired later. You won't survive even if you are a manager. That's how dispensable you are in HRs' eyes.

You need to be careful with at least half of your coworkers and supervisors. They smiled widely to you and talked horribly behind your back. The best place to learn gossip is at client's offices. Your team manager will tell you which manager or director she hates and warn you to be cautious when you work for them.

Nobody cares about your talent. I mean really there's not much talent they care when your managers even encourage you to follow last year work papers. As long as you are the favorite of either one of HRs, you can keep your job or you are next one to let go during next slow season.

    Advice to Management

HRs are given too much power, which as a result, they become bullies in the firm. Leadership should be given to the people who you work with, not the ones who only make the job schedules.

I worked at Anchin Block & Anchin full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some great people to work with, firm has a great reputation

    Cons

Was at Anchin over two years, consistently asked for work and was never given a chance to get the experience I needed. Make sure you don't get on a popular manager's bad side or you are toast.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees when they come to you. Spoke to partners numerous times and was mostly ignored.
