I have been working at Andover Healthcare full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company is growing rapidly. Room for career advancement. Refreshing management style. The company takes an "all hands on deck" approach.

    Cons

Workplace politics - but it's like that at every company. If you aren't a committed team player...this company isn't a good fit for you.

    Advice to Management

Invest in existing employees. Grow from within and hire the best outside talent you can find. Employee appreciation goes a long way.

I worked at Andover Healthcare full-time

    Pros

Health and dental insurance after 90 days; reasonably affordable. Monday through Friday schedule, unless you're third shift. The work, depending on the department you're in, is not difficult.

    Cons

Atrocious conditions. Trash everywhere--on the manufacturing and shipping floor, outside on the property. A single toilet for the men, and a single toilet for the women, in a factory that employs at least 150 people. Forklift equipment is very poorly maintained, and not safe to operate. Mostly Latino workers; management would rather save a few bucks by hiring them at $9.00 an hour as opposed to a U.S. citizen at $13.00 an hour. Given the building conditions, I can understand why most Americans wouldn't want to work there. Owner is 100% pure greed.

    Advice to Management

With the exception of the owner, management should keep an updated resume handy. Not sure what's keeping OSHA and the Department Of Immigration out of there, but they need to stop in and visit more often.

I worked at Andover Healthcare (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This is a terrible place to work and that is being kind. The owner is out of control. Yells at people on the floor and the office. Management is inexperienced and the owner just wants the money.

When product falls on the floor he tells people to put it back in the boxes (this is a medical company?). All the equipment is falling apart and no one cares. There is 1 bathroom for 200 people (OSHA violation....). This is all the good stuff.....

    Cons

Stay away from this place. No one speaks english and they just use this place to get money or wait for an accident to happen and collect. Worse place I have ever work. Do not work here!!! No raise in 3 years. You come in one day and someone else from Management was fired because they did not want to do what the boss said. Go to plan B - whatever you do, don't work here.

    Advice to Management

    Have a heart

I worked at Andover Healthcare full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great Products and friendly, dedicated hard workers. Office environment is very nice. Sr. management is great except for the CEO.

    Cons

The CEO is extremely unprofessional and disoriented. He will scream at employees in front of anyone and everyone and forgets or is unaware of integral manufacturing processes that have been going on for many years. The company could thrive if the CEO would step down. He is the major deterrent to company's progress, but is too unstable to know he is the problem. When he is in on-site, people hide to avoid being screamed at and publicly humiliated.
Poor Manufacturing environment and production equipment. There is a malodorous smell throughout the company.

    Advice to Management

Focus more on implementing LEAN initiatives, equipment upgrades, employee training, process improvements and cleanliness in manufacturing area.

I have been working at Andover Healthcare as an intern

    Pros

    Excellent products, some great people.

    Cons

Most people here are fearful of losing their job everyday so they lie, cheat, and steal thier way into the owners good graces for the moment. So many great people have left or have been fired in the past two years due to the owners ignorance of good honest hard working folks who want to do a great job. New hires here are selfish and have no loyalty. The longest employees have learned to lie well and bend over backwards to keep themselves out of the line of fire. The IT head is the most viscous uncaring woman who has also climbed her way to the top by lying and backstabbing and spying on her prey of the week.

    Advice to Management

No advice would matter or be listened to, as good people try to give advice but get fired for disagreeing with the owner.

    Pros

Some decent USA made products that compete with 3M bandages

    Cons

Owner / CEO treats people as commodity and has rage fits. He does not play by the rules when paying bonuses. The product category is very commodity oriented. Turnover is way above medical device norms. Morale is horrible whenever the CEO is in the building.

    Advice to Management

Empower your senior team leaders and stop destroying morale with rage fits and micro management in every department.

I have been working at Andover Healthcare full-time

    Pros

Freedom to devise your own schedule - small company, more flexibility with pricing, contracts, etc.

    Cons

owner is a SCROOGE. Senior leadership is terrible, micro managing, unrealistic quotas and expectation and NO STRUCTURED COMMISSIONS. Bonus is given based on owner's pockets. It's all discretionary. Bonus is around $5K - $10K a YEAR. For all the duties of calling on end-users, distribution, etc. throughout MULTIPLE CITIES you will be GROSSLY UNDERPAID.

I have been working at Andover Healthcare full-time

    Pros

There are no pros here, only cons.

    Cons

Three new VP's in two years no one displaying leadership, in fact just the opposite. People hired and fired constantly, no tenure people left, sales declining in all divisions. The company heavily in debt and will be sold in a year max. Don't get caught in that vortec. They will tell you its a great place to work, just walk around and ask people how long they have been there.

    Advice to Management

Sell the company, you have destroyed it and salvage whats left. 90% of the sales are commodity products and everyone is buying on price.
