I have been working at Angela Mortimer full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

If you want to work in a generally collegiate environment, where innovation is encouraged, KPIs are used as a tool not a weapon, and a six figure salary is achievable, look no further. I have had many a bad experience working at other recruitment companies, and I don't think some people realise how good they have it here-hence the number of people who leave and then return! This is a genuine consultancy, NOT an agency.

    Cons

If you like being micro managed and have other people manage your career, this might not be the place for you.

    Pros

The people are fantastic and gel together well. Quality, face to face, relationship building recruitment is what the company is built on. The career opportunities are good and if you want to progress then they will listen and help you get there. Training is offered most Wednesdays on a variety of courses. There is an attitude of your getting out what you put in.

    Cons

It is a very open environment and very numbers driven which does not suit everybody.

    Advice to Management

Keep giving your consultants room to grow and help them/be there for them.

    Pros

This is a great place with genuinely passionate people. People are passionate about the company as well as its traditional values. They are passionate about recruitment, about people and about putting candidates in the right roles. This is also a place for those who want to experience the entrepreneurial spirit. You will earn very well as well as create a great lifestyle for yourself. There are some very inspiring individuals there including the founders John and Angela Mortimer who are still genuinely involved and interested in the business.

    Cons

The entrepreneurial culture is not embraced by all to its full extent. When they say entrepreneurial at interview stage, they really mean it.

    Advice to Management

Stay hands on and operational as this is what makes senior management knowledgeable across the whole of the business from the bottom to the very top.

    Pros

The people. Some really outstanding talent in that office that aren't being treated the way they deserve. Only a few aren't in it for themselves only, but those few are really amazing people. Basic salary is average, but they will pay more if negotiated.

    Cons

The CEO, the management, the commission, the backwards systems, the training..
People that are liked by management will progress quickly, but if you aren't exactly like everyone else, expect to be out of that office at probation. They don't focus on financial growth but your 'activities'. Training is never organised and due to that only a few of the sessions are useful. New consultants take a long time to train up due to outdated systems and processes. CEO seems to go out of his way to make newbies cry, way past his prime and has issues with his memory.

    Advice to Management

Don't promise the world and undeliver. Don't promote people into management that can't manage and have no skill to do so. Praise where praise is due and dont allow consultants that nonchalantly get by to do so.
