    Pros

My favorite part of the training process was the managers making me feel welcomed and valuable. They were readily available to address any questions or concerns I had. Tori and Riley are wonderful trainers. My team is so close knit and we are constantly in communication lifting one another up. Teela Crain facilitates an environment that exudes accountability and comradery. I have yet to discover an area in which Angi needs improvement.

    Cons

    none at the current time

    Used to be great

    Pros

I worked at Angi on the marketing team for over two years. When I started, it was a great company with strong leadership and a clear direction. While there were a few issues to work out, it was manageable and seemed to be on the up and up. My team worked well together and got along fine (before everyone quit or was forced out).

    Cons

Over time, things seemed to completely crumble. Deadlines were created with no communication to the teams these deadlines had been given to. Expectations were too high, with low pay, for projects to be completed on these insane deadlines. The rebrand was truly one of the most insane rollouts I've ever seen, spurred forward so quickly that multiple teams were working late nights and early mornings, expected to produce with little-to-no direction from leadership. Everything about the rebrand was held so close to the vest that multiple teams were hindered by lack of information and unable to complete their jobs -- instead having to go back and redo work they'd just stayed up through the night completing. It was incredibly disrespectful to trusted employees and the whole thing seemed incredibly shortsighted. Along with the rebrand came a complete overhaul of executive leadership, with higher-ups leaving the company in droves. That was a red flag to leave, if the disastrous rebrand wasn't enough of a signal. Instead of hiring more help, teams were left to pick up the slack of multiple parties, and operate on even tighter and tighter deadlines.

    Angi Response

We are excited you enjoyed your experience during your time on our marketing team, but are sorry to hear that your experience shifted in terms of overall communication and team deadlines. Coming out of our recent re-brand, our business is in hyper-growth mode and we are actively hiring for open roles across the US. This, coupled with other recent changes, have given us opportunities to expand roles across departments so we can secure top talent to help us achieve our mission of becoming the home for all things home. We have also implemented regular companywide Fireside chats to keep employees informed about our business and provide transparency around future change. Thank you for sharing your feedback and best wishes in your next endeavor. - Laura Kato, SVP HR

    Awful and about to quit

Apr 23, 2019 - Cleaner in Long Island City, NY

    Pros

I mean, If you just read the responses from Handy here on this platform alone in response to these reviews here, you can get an idea of how awful they really are. Never once have they answered an email correctly. There is no communication with employees and I suspect any and all responses are computer generated only with an attached name at the end. Even customers are unable to reach a live person when they have complaints. Last week alone I worked my butt off and racked up about 1000.00 dollars in pay that was due to me . And right before I was paid they hit me with 400 bucks in misulanious fees. Things like 'I didn't navigate through the app at the correct time while I was cleaning, to check off what I cleaned AS I ClEANED IT' - excuse me but I'm sorry, I was busy doing my job cleaning the house and being professional instead of being on my phone every 5 min. When I was done with the job I would check off what was completed during the time I was on site before checking out. But yup, I was charged fees for that. And if it wasn't that, they would find something else to charge me a fee for to ensure they were paid by the customers as well as take as much as they could from me as well in this case almost half my pay every week. Meanwhile, I was a 5 star rated employee and everyone loved my work. I would even get fined for being at a customer's house longer then I was suppose to because I took extra care or did extra work to accommodate the customer but because I stayed an hour later, Handy felt they should be paid by the customer for the extra hour I stayed. Since they weren't going to get that money from the customer for the extra hour they decided they would get it from me. The app has a map so I think they may be able to tell by your location if your still on the job even if you check out and do extra work for the custoner. Anyway, they really are awful. I once went to a home where a woman ordered 2 cleaners. I showed up and the other cleaner didn't. The poor woman tried to get her money back for the cleaner who was a no show. Guess what? She couldn't get a live person at handy to help her and they sent her an email that explained that they wouldn't be reimbursing her for the extra cleaner who never showed. So she canceled her contract with Handy by calling her credit card company to cancel her payments to them and guess who got fined for the job? You guessed it, me!! Because Handy was out of money due to their bad customer service, The person who DID show up to the job and cleaned the entire house in Orient point Long island (huge house) was charged . And because of the fees they charged me I basically cleaned that house for Free. Meam while the cleaner who never showed up is also charged a 50 dollar no show fee that goes in handy pocket. Ita all about the cash flow with this company and of course business is business but They have no use or care for their workers other then to pour in that money and they dont care about their customers either. Its SO sad. Especially since most cleaners are hard working individuals who arent rich by any means and sometimes just trying to get their kids though college like myself as a single mother. So Handy is pretty 'Handy' by sticking their hand right into everyone's pocket !

    Cons

Bad, awful, scam , con job!

Communication is the key to strong relationships

Jan 4, 2016 - House Cleaner in Chicago, IL

    Pros

Weekly pay... Work the hours I want to work ... Handy is a great place if you want to work part time or full time

    Cons

Absolutely no communication with a human ... It's ridiculous to the customer and the contractor. The rating system is the worst because you get absolutely no feedback. No one wants to work somewhere where you are constantly reminded of your ratings which are unfair by being one sided

    Lousy Company to Work For

Sep 26, 2015 - House Cleaner in Denver, CO

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Ability to set your own schedule.

    Cons

Too many jobs are cancelled with only a couple of days advance notice which makes it hard to schedule your work. Rating system used by customers is unfair to the workers as most customers' expectations are unrealistic. More time needed on most jobs than is scheduled. It could be a two-hour cleaning for a one bedroom apartment or a multi bedroom/bathroom house. Communication with Handy is difficult and can only be done through the portal and no phone number to call.

    Pros

I can make my own schedule

    Cons

The downside of working with handy is once jobs have neen booked they have also been canceled. I've realized the Customers didn't book the cleaning Handy never removed them from their platform. Handy has poor communications with the workers either we have to contact them via email and still haven't recieved a reply a week later. I also haven't been able to make the amount i made in my first week i made 164 and handy took their $150 for supplies and i was left with 14 bucks. With customers canceling left and right how could I poor communication.

    Great company to work for

    Dec 13, 2022 - Freelance Writer

    Pros

I've thoroughly enjoyed working for Angi's. They use a great platform for communication and have a simple yet effective way of implementing their goals. They're flexible, friendly, and great to work for without unnecessary meetings.

    Cons

The main downside is the frequent changes in the work environment. They have new ideas and change up briefs/templates often without communicating that until after the fact. It feels a little bit like a trial and error at times, but you can tell that they're working hard to up their content strategy and marketability.

Great Place to Build a Career

    Pros

I have been with Angi for several years and have seen a lot of change, both as a professional and within the organization. Angi is a place where I have been able to build a solid career and progress in my skills and leadership. I have had mentors throughout the organization who became advocates for me and have taught me so much. Through all the change, I have become a better leader, teammate and professional, although it hasn't always been easy. Pros: - Great colleagues/ people to work with - Dedicated leadership team -Professional Development - one of the core values at Angi is 'Be an Owner' this ownership and empowerment throughout the organization is great for development, building skills and doing incredible things - Massive opportunity - Angi is about one year out from our rebrand and we have a massive opportunity ahead to really revolutionize home services. - Consistent Communication and new engaging events - Internal comms is great for a company our size. We have firesides every other week where we actually get to see and interact with our whole leadership team. Really unique! - We get to work with some exceptional pros, small businesses and support them and help homeowners realize their dreams. It's a cool mission!

    Cons

    - Compensation is often within "market rates" but just barely and often only looking at total compensation, not base - Work/Life balance is not in a great place, long days, lots of work (but I like to look at this as an opportunity, lots of work - lots of opportunity) - Inconsistency between departments and teams - some teams are strong, stable, with great leaders who effectively communicate objectives and what success looks like... other teams and departments not so much. Consistency could be improved
