    Pros

    The company really focuses on business integrity and safety.

    Cons

    The upper level management has a very elitist attitude and barely acknowledges staff beneath them. It does nothing to boost morale.

    Advice to Management

    Acknowledge the little people, don't be so arrogant and elitist

    Pros

    Competitive salary but you have to put in the hours. Nice people

    Cons

    Chaotic workplace with poor communication resulting in disgruntled employees. Very poor work life balance. Minimal training budget and support for junior engineers.

    Advice to Management

    Invest time in your less experienced engineers so that they can readily give back to the company.

    I worked at Anglo American full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    The salary was good.
    The benefits were ok.
    The bonuses were even better.
    Some of the people were nice to work with.

    Cons

    Most of the people don't exactly know what they're doing.
    Majority of the people in positions of power are racist and sexist.
    The work was boring and redundant. Not challenging at all.

    Advice to Management

    Attend leadership courses and actually apply what you learn.
    Be open to change.
    Allow yourself to be as good a learner as you are a teacher.

    Great benefits package and opportunities for progression. Perhaps cutting edge leaders in innovative processes.

    Cons

    Constant reorganisation which leads to uncertainty. No accountability and responsibility of roles. Weak senior leadership.

    Pros

    General culture is that all employees leave on time, unless in exceptional circumstances.
    Company has lots of initiatives caring about the wellbeing of employees.
    Pays very well, above market rate. Good benefits, including free breakfast and lunch!

    Cons

    Old-fashioned company in nature, with some managers having old-school values

    Advice to Management

    A bit more flexibility on working would be good

    Pros

    Great people, very committed to their work.
    Generally good ethos and values; committed to operating sustainably
    Interesting sector

    Cons

    Leaders don't always lead appropriately
    Sometimes still an old-school mining feel about the place
    Undergoing constant change i.e. restructuring which is wearing on employees
    Can be hierarchical and slow as with most global, matrix organisations

    Great history, great Assets, great corporate culture

    Cons

    Very rigid and bureaucratic at top, who can't see what's happening at the ground level.

    Advice to Management

    Be more multicultural, top layers are made up of white, blue eyed men
