When it comes to promotions u really must be good with the boss or your experience will not count for anything.

    Advice to Management

I worked at Anixter Fasteners full-time

    Pros

The benefits were good. Many of the prescriptions that my family needed were covered 100%. They offer time off in a timely manner... instead of the accrural system.

    Cons

Nepotism was on the rise. Compensation is definitely on the low end..and increases were moderate at best. There was limited opportunity for advancement and little support from human resources.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your dependable employees... instead of the ones who tell the best jokes.

I worked at Anixter Fasteners full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Ideal working hours. I typically worked from 8-5.

    Cons

Nepotism was out of hand. Could not always trust management

    Pros

Relatively flexible with work/home life balance, as well as start/end times and personal needs.

    Cons

Bonus targets are consistently set way too high. Employees only get full bonuses about every 2 or 3 years. FYI, bonuses are a big part of the total compensation package. Also, employees run out of promotional opportunities after a couple years on the job.

    Advice to Management

Stop going outside the company for higher level positions when you have qualified people inside, and loosen up the bonus targets.
