    I have been working at Ankrom Moisan Architects full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    The people are great, the office atmosphere is generally also very comfortable. A large firm, but has the feeling of smaller firms within. Even after moving to a new and open office, I think that has strengthened our visions of ourselves. They have prided themselves on the support of their employees, and historically that has been true. People high up and in HR truly care about the employees.

    Cons

    Due to recent financial issues and layoffs, that positive office atmosphere has been noticeably subdued. Tendency toward specialization over time leads to less variety in tasks project to project. Salary is lower than expected, offset by bonuses when things are going well, but not when they're not. They try to match AIA job/title definitions and be competitive with salary, but seem to not accurately classify staff's...

    Advice to Management

    Keep transparency and honesty with your staff about how things are going at the higher levels of the office. The success of the firm has been the atmosphere, comfort people have in working here, the comradery and friendships, and knowing it is not a corporate experience, though a large firm. Work on developing mentorship, not just for interns, but for future project management and company leadership.
