        Pros

The work environment at AMA is full of collaboration, creativity, and uniqueness. Team members constantly challenge each other to be bigger and better, pushing one another to think "outside the box" to make the magic happen. The office is fun, warm, welcoming, and friendly. Ankrom Moisan works hard to provide a great work/life balance for their employees. They are flexible with their scheduling, provide comp. time/production...

        Cons

Say what you will about the layoffs a year ago. Mistakes were made, cutbacks needed to happen, yes. It was difficult for some but as a result, the AMA machine seems to be moving in the right direction once again. Since the cutbacks, not all of the pre-2017 benefits have returned. Sometimes decision-making can be slow and you must consistently follow up, but push enough and you'll get what you're looking for.

        Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. They are your biggest sales tool. Keep them happy and the company will prosper.

        Pros

Many genuine, caring people work here. There is mentorship and opportunity for growth for those who seek it out. Acceptable level of work-life balance in general. Support for licensure.

        Cons

The compensation is well below market rate, upper management is out of touch with what matters to employees and makes decisions that lack vision. Heavy male bias in certain roles and perception of gender pay inequity. Not a clear design process on certain teams and projects.

        Advice to Management

Need more training at the executive level, especially CEO leadership. Need to improve at recognizing and rewarding the talents of the company's many hard workers rather than gravitating to shiny objects and misguided branding campaigns.

I have been working at Ankrom Moisan Architects full-time for more than 5 years

        Pros

I've never worked at a company where I truly like everyone I work with. I think we're all fairly laid back, easy going architects and designers that want to do great work. There are no egos here and the company prides themselves on it. Work-life balance is alive and well here and the projects are managed fairly well. When you work over your 40 for the week you can either take that time in comp time or get a quarterly...

        Cons

The lay-offs last year put a dark cloud over our reputation and our employees, but I think the firm is working to overcome that and be stronger on the other side.

        Advice to Management

Continue to listen to the staff and don't be afraid to make big changes!

I worked at Ankrom Moisan Architects full-time for more than 3 years

        Pros

AMA celebrates being entrepreneurial, via the founders of the company. Some employees can take advantage of it, creating interesting opportunities for themselves. The office spaces are really nice. It's a big enough business to find people who care about the same things you do (design, PM-ing, QC, BD, etc.) and form good relationships in and out of work. The work / life balance for people with families is relatively widespread...

Leadership. On the surface, the corporate culture seems great. Casual, friendly, free coffee, fun events, etc. But, if you scratch the surface - which most of us have after the debacle of 2017 - you will notice that leadership fosters a culture of mistrust, cattiness, inauthenticity and irresponsibility. If they feel threatened by a person or idea, it goes very badly. To put it simply: watch your back. Be a YES man...

        Advice to Management

The time for lip service is over. Stop masking the toxic problems and actually deal with them—everyone can see through the smoke screen and are ready for actual change. Get the right leadership team in place who can form trusting and inspiring relationships with staff AND clients. Don’t just talk about listening—actually do it, and be prepared for some hard truths. Don’t punish the people brave enough to speak up. Looking...

I have been working at Ankrom Moisan Architects

        Pros

-LOTS of room for growth in your career. Many leadership opportunities available. -Very entrepreneurial and encourages everyone to be part of bringing in new work and being part of business development. -Supportive staff environment. There isn't the competition you see at other firms. There are a lot of social work events and opportunities to make friends with your co-workers. Upper management is very approachable....

        Cons

-We are currently squeezed into an office that is too small for our almost 100 person Seattle staff and we are spread out in 3 different locations...but our new office is under construction so this is just a temporary inconvenience. -Because the office is growing so quickly they are having to do a little catch up to create more structure and standards. This can be slightly frustrating for some, but there are opportunities...

I have been working at Ankrom Moisan Architects full-time for more than a year

        Pros

-The office culture at the Seattle office is unlike anywhere else I've ever worked. It is a very laid back, friendly, helpful, encouraging group of people. This is the first firm I've worked at where I've seen people put their work aside to help other co-workers who have too much on their plate. There are lots of fun office events to mingle with each other (bowling, sailing, karaoke) . I laugh with my co-workers every...

        Cons

-If you are the kind of person that waits to be told what to do, you may lose your way here. It is a very fast paced environment and there isn't much micromanagement. -The Seattle office is growing at a very rapid rate (tons of work!), so they are just implementing some structure in the firm now and sometimes that can cause confusion.

        Advice to Management

-Keep up the good work! -Implement a little more structure into the firm.
