I worked at Ann Taylor full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great working environment --> The whole corporation worked together as if everyone was family --> Good luck as part of The Ascena Group.

    Cons

As part of The Ascena Group --> Ann Inc. positions are being outsourced, and losing a great deal of knowledge in what made Ann Inc. so great.

    Advice to Management

Stop the outsourcing --> Third parties will look good at first, but in a short period of time you become just another number --> Company loyal employees will always make you a better company in the long run!

I worked at Ann Taylor part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Obviously this is highly dependent on management at individual stores, but overall I had a great experience. Good employee discount.

    Cons

I recommend doing some research if transferring regions. When I moved from MN to VA & transferred stores, my hourly wage was slightly increased, but I found out later on, my colleagues in VA were all starting at much higher rates than I was. This was not based on performance, but I was essentially punished having previously worked in a less expensive market, compared to colleagues who had not been with the company.

I have been working at Ann Taylor part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fun co-workers. Easy non competitive sales environment. Great employee discounts.

    Cons

Location is in a mall where the store is not visible from the parking lot due to trees and shrubs, so it cuts down on customer traffic significantly. No simple options available for Canadian customers to become Ann Taylor cardholders, very time consuming and frustrating to the customer. Store has old outdated fixtures mixed with a few newer pieces scattered throughout, along with very old dirty carpets which tends to make the overall store look visually unappealing. Also, outdated and mismatched pos equipment.

    Advice to Management

Visual and marketing teams need to think more about the customer when creating floor sets. Some displays just are not realistic for each store and merchandise is not always easily accessible for the customer. Adding more full-time positions would be great.
