    Pros

    Good Discount and medical benefits

    Cons

Store manager has a lot to do beyond available to complete in a timely manner. Expectations are high and payroll does not allow for adequate staffing both in scheduling and for attracting and retaining top talent. Company speaks to supporting a work / life balance, but as a store manager the work load does not allow that.

    Advice to Management

Offer higher pay to associates, key holders and assistant managers in order to attract and keep top talent.

I worked at Ann Taylor full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Discount on clothes, fast paced environment, interaction with all kinds of people from all walks of life, constantly moving, sales can be fun, its like adult dress up!

    Cons

Upper management is wholly focused on the dollar and does not care at all about employees. This comes all the way from the top.

    Advice to Management

Managers in the stores are great, regional and district are fine too, its the people running the organization that are sending a message of not supporting the employees on the ground.

I worked at Ann Taylor part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Beautiful clothes
Somewhat good company to work for
75% off coupon books for employees every season
50% off on full price, 20% on clearance
Discounts at all other stores owned by Ascena Retail Group (Dressbarn, Maurices, Justice, etc)
Career Advancement Opportunities (if management likes you)

    Cons

PAY - For such a expensive clothing company you'd expect (slightly) more than minimum wage an hour. They claim to empower and value women's rights and worth yet they only start associates around $8.50-$8.75/hour. Whereas other companies (McDonalds! Bath & Body Works! Lowes!) pay more.

DRESS CODE- While it is not required that you wear Ann/Loft clothing while working there, it is highly encouraged and you're frowned upon if you don't. However with an associate discount items are still too highly priced for employees who make so little an hour.

HOURS- My god, no matter how well you do and how many times you are promised more hours they don't give them to you. This is not entirely management's fault, it depends if you work in a low or high volume store, and how many hours they are budgeted by corporate. The company does give hours based on how well you do - client experience provided, buliding a sale, credit ranking in the store. While it is not supposed to be that way, most store managers within the company employ that rule.

    Advice to Management

Fight for your associates to earn a little more an hour, you'll keep them longer than the standard 9 months.
