    Pros

A wonderful company that promotes growth, a sense of community, and has great philanthropic initiatives

    Cons

Typical woes of retail-this is not a 9-5 m-f kind of job.

    Advice to Management

Continue valuing the input of your associates, they matter!

I have been working at Ann Taylor part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Incredibly positive culture. Management very accommodating! Uplifting and empowering. Associates become like your second family. There isn't the micromanaging that can be found at other retailers.

    Cons

Management and associate pay scale below other retail companies. Pay raises are very slow to occur and aren't always in line with the increases in the minimum wage.

    Advice to Management

Continue empowering women and employees. Should allow employees who have worked there a long time to get benefits.

I have been working at Ann Taylor part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I love the store I work in. The ladies are amazing and I wouldn't be looking into another company if I were full time.

    Cons

Understaffed quite frequently. No set schedule. Insane shifts around the holidays. Black friday- need I say more?

    Advice to Management

Don't overwork your best ladies. You need to take charge of staffing issues instead of running your best talent into the ground.

I worked at Ann Taylor full-time

    Pros

Great merchandise and discount. They really try to create a great environment for the clients

    Cons

As an SM the workload and expectations are extreme. The company has become very reactive instead of proactive and the constant discounting lessens the value of the product.

I have been working at Ann Taylor part-time

    Pros

I work at The Loft and do like it. I feel like I'm helping women look good. In some occasions, I feel like I'm helping a woman feel better about herself. I really like feeling like I'm really helping someone.

    Cons

The main issue is have is the pressure to have people apply for the credit cards. People are more credit conscious and are trying to rebuild their credit, get financing for a house or car, or just don't want additional credit on their report. We are told to try and get a card by asking every customer. I do that, but I can't be aggressive about it in good conscious. The super-entitled women that comes in sometimes are tiresome, but that is part the business.

    Advice to Management

Don't put so much preassure on the credit card applications.

I worked at Ann Taylor full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Overall company not bad: some perks, nice events (such as holiday parties), outwardly friendly staff, good structure overall. During my time there the top management was very upbeat and fun.

    Cons

Outdated computer system, Deceptive, unethical, overly critical management (Ann Taylor sweaters Tech Design department specifically, at least while I was there). This team would scapegoat any problems with the department on lower level staff, while Senior Tech Designer would come in late regularly and surf the internet, then complain about working late hours. Also, somewhat cliquish environment with some Divas. Though the company talks about work/life balance, expect regular long hours.

    Advice to Management

There is a serious problem with how the Ann Taylor Sweaters Technical Design Team was managed (at least from 2012-2014.) Very unethical and deceptive practices taking place that hurt the company as a whole!
