I worked at Annaly Capital Management part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Everyone was very friendly and the hours weren't bad

    Cons

It seemed like transparency of management would have helped

I worked at Annaly Capital Management full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Decent pay, decent work flexibility

    Cons

Used to be a wonderful place, but since the passing of its founder it's become just another sweat shop with dispropotional politics for such a small place

    Advice to Management

Your people are your greatest asset, don't alienate them

I worked at Annaly Capital Management full-time

    Pros

    - Compensation is good
    - Benefits are good (for now)
    - Workload is mild

    Cons

Since the original founder/CEO died, there has been near 100% turnover in the management team. New CEO has filled management positions with friends and fellow Notre Dame alumni, with predictable results for culture, morale, and performance.

    Pros

Excellent benefits, generally nice people. Good hours. Easy work.

    Cons

Death of former CEO brought out the worst in everyone. Original employees who weren't qualified to manage a Starbucks that lucked in to million dollar jobs through friends or family couldn't hack it when people who understood how Wall Street worked showed up. under new CEO the place turned in to a miserable environment with people too busy talking about each other to do any work and they imploded when asked to actually contribute more than their golf handicap. Fortunately they are all gone but some of the good ones left too and all that was left was a miserable shell.

    Advice to Management

It's ok to work hard and be good to your employees. That doesn't have to be mutually exclusive.

    Pros

They pay for your lunch. They pay for your benefits. They match a portion of your 401K

    Cons

Was probably the best place to work up until about 2013. New CEO has created a new investment banking environment, plays favorites and he controls how everyone is paid. He has very intimate relationships with certain employees, especially female ones. Seems to bring in many people who lack experience in the mortgage reit business but are his friends. CEO is very concerned with surrounding himself with people who only tell him yes.

    Pros

The company gives you stipend to buy lunch from seamless everyday. Healthcare premiums are paid for. Great 401K. Total compensation is competitive.

    Cons

This company prior to 2015 was the place to be. They have since laid off a bunch of workers who fit in to the old culture so they can hire new employees who fit the standard cut throat I-Banking profile. Despite bringing on "more qualified workers" and replacing the CEO, the company bottom line and stock still continues to fall. The overall environment is depressing.
