Great Company, Great Culture, Great Opportunity
Jul 15, 2022 - Senior Recruitment Consultant in Belfast, Northern IrelandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great company culture, zero middle management, promotions based on billing not who is liked the most, good company socials, fun work environment, people are very open and upfront. Anson McCade allows you to learn about very technical markets whilst networking with very senior professionals within these markets. This exposes to the full lifecycle process of researching the market, candidate generation, managing clients, developing new business and closing deals. Opportunity to work across any roles in the company not just core roles within your remit. Opportunity to progress through promotions quickly. Opportunity to take on responsibility quickly and therefore increased billing and base salary. Great base salary for new starts. Opportunity for expensed travel to London. Great senior management culture whereby no one thinks they are better than anyone else. The CEO and Directors talk to employees on a level.
Cons
The job can be demanding as there is a natural pressure to bill and progress. This is not suited to everyone. But means motivated individuals can succeed quickly with great prospects long term. There is an initial 6-12 month period of learning the role which can be high pressure for new starts. This can lead to people leaving their role before they are fully up and running. This is the same as with any recruitment job and Anson McCade are very good at reducing this by creating a learning and development centred environment rather than impossible sales targets and aggressive atmospheres.

Lots of growth , progression and amazing people to work with.
Mar 4, 2022 - Lead Recruiter in Belfast, Northern IrelandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I have just finished a six year stint at Anson McCade. The longest I have worked anywhere and for very good reason. The senior team are so ambitious its infectious. They have a clear cut vision of where the business is going and its been fantastic watching it unfold over the years. Effort is rewarded. People are seeing their first promotion within their first six months- you don't get that anywhere else at graduate level. If you keep the momentum going you can be promoted yearly with earnings sky rocketing. Everyone up to the MD is accessible. They recognise the job isn't easy and there was no point where I felt I couldn't pick up a phone or knock on the door and ask for advice. The Belfast Director was particularly supportive both professionally and personally. Any time life got a little bit hard the business supported me by adjusting my ways working- home working, time off, whatever was needed. Lots of things will go wrong -it is recruitment industry afterall- but when they did and even when I was at fault it never felt like I didn't have the support of the business. You will not find an office where you can make friends as quickly. There's a level of comradery I haven't experienced anywhere and probably won't again.
Cons
A few weeks/months ago I could have put something here but as recently as my final week they were making improvements to make life better for the team. They're always aware they can do better and that focus on continuous improvement means they tackle issues head on when they arise. Things that were a problem a week ago are now some of the businesses strengths.

Light years ahead of similar agencies
Apr 12, 2022 - Senior Recruitment Consultant in Belfast, Northern IrelandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
From day 1 you’re supported. It’s not the typical “sink or swim” agency environment, you join a genuinely helpful and supportive team of recruiters. Some of the built up knowledge is truly excellent - you’re learning from the best. There have been serious attempts to improve diversity and inclusion, equity, salaries and flexibility. They are far ahead of other agencies in NI in this regard. The opportunity here to work on recruitment for global companies, unicorn startups and scale-ups, household names and more, is unique for NI. Add in the fact that you’re working in IT/cyber recruitment for these companies and you’re building an exceptionally sought after skill set. Excellent social element to the team.
Cons
Hours can be long at the start, but that is recruitment - you get out what you put in and there is a huge amount to learn. As you grow in knowledge and experience you’re judged much more on output, not input.
