I have been working at Aon Hewitt (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great coworkers, flexible work schedules

    Cons

Pay is lower than I would like, benefits don't have as much value as other companies in industry

I worked at Aon Hewitt full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people and managers are expected to help their people grow.
Good work environment, comfortable office setting, and ability to work from home for some positions.

    Cons

Low pay, difficult to move from one department to another, and losing many very good and long tenured people.

    Advice to Management

Make it easier to move departments. I witnessed several very qualified people who were turned down for department moves due to subjective matrices; most notably manager review being 0.1% less than required amount even though the employee was doing about 20% of the managers duties for team support. After securing other employment offers for positions were made, but it was too late and too little money.

I worked at Aon Hewitt full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Able to work virtually.
Used to have a really good team spirit.

    Cons

I worked here for 15 years. A couple of years ago there was a re-org in Benefits IT where we were all placed into new roles. Some genius decided I should be a COBOL Developer, despite me having never touched COBOL in my life. It was subsequently held against me that I wasn't efficient with COBOL.
My manager after the re-org clearly had it in for me from the start, she was very political and unethical. All smiles on group calls, then she would screw me on my annual reviews, much to the amazement of other team members.

Do not work here. They use proprietary tools and you will lose all your industry standard skills.

    Advice to Management

Keep and eye on your managers. Not all of them do a good job and some are very unethical.
If you do a re-org, put people in roles where they can succeed.

Morale is awful in Benefits IT. People don't need to hang around and be treated so badly.

I worked at Aon Hewitt full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great Benefits, Positive Working environment, and good salary once you demonstrate that you are a capable and helpful employee. I enjoyed my time.

    Cons

I can't think of many cons. I would suggest more training for new hires as when they get to the phones they seem clueless and give out wrong information quite often.

    Advice to Management

More responsibilities could be given to Customer Service Associates for downtime between calls. Simple tasks such as data entry would be an option.

I have been working at Aon Hewitt full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Largely hands off management style

    Cons

On the flip side, when you complain to management of serious problems nothing is done about them. As long as the fat cats get their big bonuses, many weeks off a year, and fat salaries, they really don't care about the little people. Also, the health insurance is very expensive. It used to be affordable, but since they switched to their own health insurance exchange, the premiums are out of control. Unacceptable company in many ways. I've worked there for several years and I'm fed up with it. Don't waste your time with this company.

    Advice to Management

Clean house. When people bring serious concerns and issues to your attention, don't tell them that they are just "a number at a big company" (like my manager said to me) or completely ignore them. After a while, employees get tired of being ignored and having their concerns swept under the rug.

I have been working at Aon Hewitt (Less than a year)

    Pros

They provide good benefits and are in a good suburban location. The ability to work virtually is a perk that many colleagues really enjoy and take full advantage of. The job doesn't require colleagues to be in the office.

    Cons

Everything is done virtually. Most teams have a team in India as well as in other locations across the United States. They use proprietary systems that don't exactly relate to other tech roles and most teammates will not be in the office so everything will be done over instant messaging and phone calls.

    Advice to Management

Invest more in your new-hires and the culture around new hires. There is a decent age gap between new hires and employees that have been there 10+ years. Need to find a way to keep the younger employees
