I worked at Aon Hewitt full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexibility in the work place as a manager and a good offering of benefits

    Cons

Senior managers are not consistent in delivery of messages and there were MANY different projects going at once with no real direction. This company always creates a new idea or change, pushes everyone to deal with the change but never bakes out the details. We constantly were scrambling to clean up the mess after we rolled something out to our clients.

    Advice to Management

Be consistent in your messages to middle management and CSR's. Also, involve people that are actually impacted by major decisions in focus groups (Team managers, client managers, CSR's)

I have been working at Aon Hewitt full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I get to work from home. The cons are starting to outweigh the pros. Hopefully Blackstone will improve the company.

    Cons

No investment is made in employee tools and technology. The company talks about developing employee skills for advancement, but managers don't know anything about or want employee advancement. Every year managers apologize for low or no raises. Managers are told to lower employee review ratings to deny raises.

    Advice to Management

Upper management is out of touch with employees. They don't pay attention to engagement surveys (when the company sent them). If decent raises improve engagement, then give decent raises. The company spent money on the Pace app to micromanage employees. How much did that cost? Employees are an investment, not an expense. Also, pay attention to employees who take advantage of working from home so they don't have to pay for daycare. Conference calls are frustrating when children are whining or playing in the background.

I worked at Aon Hewitt full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and awesome people... the hours were okay and the location was central to most people in the area. Easy to get to and lots of open jobs and opportunities

    Cons

Very limited movement, lateral or otherwise
    Non-competitive pay
    Limited work-life balance
Management made non-sensical decisions with little employee input
Too much focus on outside factors and not the employees

    Pros

Coming out of college I learned a lot from this job. Was able to obtain a lot of skills and experience.

    Cons

This job requires long hours and is not really a good place if you are looking for a work life balance.
