    I worked at Apache full-time

    Pros

I have learned a lot from working there. Everyone is extremely friendly and it's a wonderful way for a person to enhance their skills.

    Cons

The only con I can give would probably be the long work hours. Monday-Thurs you work from 7:30-5:30; but on Fridays you only work 4 hours so it isn't really a con because the hard work is worth it to get off early.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you're doing.

    I worked at Apache full-time

    Pros

Minimal management style, willing to make changes to management and group structure when needed, encourage multidisciplinary teams and seek quality employees, fast-paced

    Cons

Work on weekends and evenings is expected depending on the group, overly competitive culture, short sighted corporate goals, not enough guidance or training for new employees

    Advice to Management

Changes feel unstable but are overall beneficial. Newly formed groups need additional guidance from the start.

I worked at Apache (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Are you degreed?
Do you want to work for a CIO that “hates technology”?
    Are you attractive?
Do you know how to mingle?
Do you want to work for management that doesn’t support you?
    Are you superficial?
Do you lack actual IT skills, but wear stylish socks?
Do you want to work for a CIO that has never led an IT department, but is a college buddy of the CEO?
Do you want to work at a company that hasn’t given us a raise in two years?

If you answer yes to any of these questions, then Apache’s IT department is for you.

    Cons

Can't think of any because Apache is a great company and there are so many people that look good. I'm not sure they will make their goal of wanting people to work at Apache IT instead of Anadarko IT. Currently Anadarko is still beating them.

    Advice to Management

Amazing job on building a great team!! Raymond Plank would be so proud of where you have taken the company. Best of luck!
