    Pros

Apache has very talented people to work beside with everyone focused on the end goal. There is not much room or tolerance for mediocre staff. The new management is making changes to move the company in the right direction.

    Cons

Granted I have not been at Apache a long time, I do not have many cons to list here. The only struggle I see currently is the divided camps of the 'old Apache way' and the 'new Apache way'...we will overcome this and move our company in the right direction.

    Advice to Management

Keep the focus on standardizing and simplifying across the organization. No more silo camps in the regions, we must work together to share our success as a whole. Make sure those that are successful share with all regions so that we can all benefit from the knowledge.

I have been working at Apache full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Love the people. I feel empowered to make decisions and feel supported by management.

    Cons

Hate the traffic to and from work. The commute to and from the Galleria is terrible.

    Advice to Management

I like our direction and am really encouraged by what I'm seeing at the top. Decisions appear to be smart ones getting the organization more streamlined and not so top-heavy.

I have been working at Apache full-time

    Pros

Apache's compensation to employees is above average among competitors. Management structure is flat, because there are only few opportunities for management, technical experts are really well compensated. Best bonus structure I have seen. For an employee ~15 years of experience expect close to 100% bonus (including stock options).
Apache has a gym, a daycare (outside operated) and cafeteria on site.

    Cons

Upper management listened too much to Wall Street, putting too much money in unconventionals, and now it's paying the price.
Not many upward mobility opportunities for women or minorities, basically a white male dominated company.
Offer more training for experienced employees, not only for new hires.

    Advice to Management

Invest more money and personnel in highly profitable assets like Egypt, stop wasting money in unconventionals, at least for now.

I worked at Apache (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Are you degreed?
Do you want to work for a CIO that “hates technology”?
    Are you attractive?
Do you know how to mingle?
Do you want to work for management that doesn’t support you?
    Are you superficial?
Do you lack actual IT skills, but wear stylish socks?
Do you want to work for a CIO that has never led an IT department, but is a college buddy of the CEO?
Do you want to work at a company that hasn’t given us a raise in two years?

If you answer yes to any of these questions, then Apache’s IT department is for you.

    Cons

Can't think of any because Apache is a great company and there are so many people that look good. I'm not sure they will make their goal of wanting people to work at Apache IT instead of Anadarko IT. Currently Anadarko is still beating them.

    Advice to Management

Amazing job on building a great team!! Raymond Plank would be so proud of where you have taken the company. Best of luck!
