I have been working at Apco full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good people, decent health benefits, great PTO that grows over the years, relaxed dress attire, can be fun place.

    Cons

Too many initiatives moving at the same time. Can't get one thing completed before having to move on or add something else. Consistent communication issues between departments, big $$ spent too quickly on things that don't prove worth their value.

I have been working at Apco full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Fair, Friendly, Responsive, Focused, and Engaged. The culture is one that promotes hard work but allows you to have fun and enjoy doing it!

    Cons

When there are people not committed to seeing the company succeed, APCO tends to hang on to them too long.

I worked at Apco full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

APCO (Easycare) is a good company to work for. Salary and benefits are good and the atmosphere is mostly a fun/positive place to work. APCO has done a lot to engage and make the company a positive place for all of its employees

    Cons

As a call center, there are the typical negatives that go with that sort of job - upset customers, etc.
There are few opportunities to advance from the claims department/call center.

I have been working at Apco full-time

    Pros

Great overall culture in certain departments. Many employees have long tenures in the Claims department. VPs within the Claims department care about their people. They just want them to be kind to clients and get their job done.

Opportunities to advance within is possible with some departments if you are liked.

Company does take pride in doing fun events and activities to show employee appreciation.

    Cons

The company stands on its core values, however it falls short when it comes to honesty in areas of discrimination and unfair treatment of employees. The good people who speak up, get the short end of the stick at times.

HR leadership falls short. The new team doesn't fit into the culture of the company and is for the company and not the people. They are bias and allow leaders to plant seeds in order to make the good employee look bad.

Turnover is huge in some departments. Normal in a call center environment..but the SOS (now called Connect) and Marketing department has major turnover.

The Marketing department has had major turnover within the past 4 years. Three new VPs from 2014-2016. New candidates should do their due diligence and research the leadership prior to accepting a position. Many newcomers to the department have no option to be creative and they become disgruntled with leadership due to horrible leadership and management style.

Insurance sucks. You will be left with a lot of bills if you require doctors visits..heir "be the CEO" of your healthcare approach can leave your pockets dry. Many employees cringe at going to the doctor because they are left with high bills because of the lack of financial coverage provided. Prescriptions can also be high.

    Advice to Management

Do more INDEPENDENT surveys and random interviews of employees to see what is going on within their department. Surveys hosted internally don't allow employees to feel certain that their comments are confidential.

HR..when someone voices a concern, look into it. Don't be bias. Forcing people out does not cure the issue when management is possibly responsible for the environment that has been created.

Train senior level managers and VPs on how to treat their subordinates and follow up and make sure they are conforming to it. Leaders will smile and make HR think they are doing well, and yet they are still being vindictive.

Keep the culture of the company family oriented and recognize that something may be wrong when a person who has never had an issue, approaches HR with one.

I have been working at Apco full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Great co-workers

There is a genuine focus on creating a great work environment.

    Cons

Management is constantly distracted by shiny objects preventing fundamental improvements in process and infrastructure.

Senior management has embraced the book "Traction" as their bible. Not a very good book and after three years, shows little evidence that the process works.

Job insecurity is used far too much as a motivational tool.

    Advice to Management

7 Habits is a much better book than Traction with much better lessons for APCO management.

I have been working at Apco full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

This is the first place I have ever worked that they truly live to their core values. It's not just a sheet of paper they show you when you interview. Management is open and amazing. The employees are all dedicated and engaged. Engagement Survey is off the charts.

    Cons

My commute is the only thing that I can say is bad. The rest of the organization is amazing and I highly recommend this company.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work!! Stay true to your culture and people.

    Pros

Access to C level management is unlike anything I have ever experienced. APCO looks out for its employees, and is active in company and community events. Benefits and compensation are very excellent, as is the opportunity for advancement.

    Cons

    A great deal of travel.

    Pros

You have the opportunity to make a lot of money. They have lots of great people in their HR and processing departments.

    Cons

They have redefined what it means to micromanage. They sell EasyCare and a vastly inferior product (GWC) at the same or higher price, lots of baiting and switching of customers to that product. Customers can get the same thing you're selling at the dealership for a far lower price and often do.

    Advice to Management

Take the micromanaging down a notch, stop selling the same product dealerships sell for 3-4 times the price, and get rid of GWC.

I have been working at Apco full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You are given both autonomy and support. You are provided guidance but not micromanaged. Forward thinking organization that is on the cutting edge of the automotive industry. There are no barriers to progression or income.

    Cons

I have found no cons. However, there do seem to be multiple "silos" that could create better synergies if cross communication was more effective.

    Advice to Management

Seek more feedback from field personnel.

    Pros

Few egos, great inter-company communication, friendly atmosphere, great work-life balance. I find it easy to get projects done as the C-Level and VP's tend to allow their teams to be heavily involved in projects from start to finish. There is amazing transparency top down.

    Cons

The location is Norcross, a little further out that I'd really like to be.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing
