I worked at Apollo Education Group full-time

    Pros

There are no pros to working here

    Cons

Lots of people who don't care about what they do for a living and have little morals.

I worked at Apollo Education Group full-time

    Pros

    Location, location, location, and location.

    Cons

Unethical leadership, poor treatment of employees, poor benefits, and unfulfilled high bonus promises.

    Advice to Management

All these reviews can't be dismissed as "disgruntled employees". The leadership team is incompetent, self-centered, unethical, and dismissive. Sure, not everyone at the director level and above is like this. However, they are the anomalies, and they are leaving your sinking ship.

I have been working at Apollo Education Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits and good PTO/time off policy

    Cons

Directionless management, unreliable and broken software that upper management refuses to abandon, poor resource allocation, over worked employees desperate for a break, no promotion opportunities

    Advice to Management

Ditch the software you've sunk absurd amounts of time and resources on - it doesn't work, it never will work, and everyone is sick of trying
    To make it work.
That program will never work the way you're hoping and all you're doing is losing good staff who are sick of putting their time into something that is an utter and total waste. Quit over allocating work to small groups of competent people and not forcing others to take any responsibility for workloads and quit forcing staff to do things outside their job descriptions (i.e. documentation, training)

    Pros

Name recognition as one of the largest suppliers in the industry

    Cons

For-profit mess that consistently had issues because of bad press.

    Advice to Management

Need to figure out how to stabilize and grow.

I worked at Apollo Education Group part-time

    Pros

Flexible work schedule and ability to work from home.

    Cons

There are many. Impersonal atmosphere, low pay, few course contracts, no benefits, etc.

    Advice to Management

Pay your faculty what they are worth, they are the interface w/your customer.

    Pros

When allowed, you really can change peoples lives.

    Cons

Company only cares about bottom line and executive salaries. It is about who you know, who likes you, and not what you bring to the company.

    Advice to Management

Management should be required to teach at least one course per year and should practice what they preach about leadership.

    Pros

Those that remain after the massive layoffs over the past 6 years are still dedicated to educating working adults, in keeping with Dr. Sperling's original vision.

    Cons

Higher Ed is not the best place to consider employment currently. AEG, given their desperate struggle to simple stay alive, wouldn't be the best choice for employment at this time.

    Pros

None that I can think of.

    Cons

This is basically a telemarketing job. 8 hours on the phone. No counseling involved, just trying to "sell".

I have been working at Apollo Education Group (Less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent vacation accrual and sick time. Employees can get a free education from University of Phoenix.

    Cons

Poor leadership and dysfunctional structure of COEs. Company is under contract for buyout and movement towards long tern goals is stagnant. Bonuses haven't been reached in past 2 years and compensation is minimal.

    Advice to Management

Communicate and integrate across silos of COEs. Replace current performance management systems and conduct talent assessments across functions
