I worked at AppRiver full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

AppRiver was an amazing company when I first started working there. Though it's still one of the better companies to work for, a lot has changed since it was acquired by Zix. Some of the pros that remain: great benefits (including 401K) and paid time off; perks like holiday parties, drinks and snacks in the office, and massages; community outreach programs with opportunities to give back (such as cooking at the local Ronald McDonald House.)

    Cons

The company has become far more focused on results than on people. They turned "Phenomenal Care" into a commodity which could be sold, something that is about as un-Phenomenal as possible. As an employee, I felt less cared for as time went on.

I worked at AppRiver full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Benefits. The few people left are great.

    Cons

Culture is lacking. New owners do not care about the employees at all. Turnover is high. Pay is not great. Hard work earns you nothing.

I worked at AppRiver full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The people of AppRiver made AppRiver. Before Zix, people were focused on delivering value to the org and to customers. The culture was supportive, trusting, and fostered innovation. The only good things left about AppRiver are the poor souls still there after the acquisition by Zix.

    Cons

Zix purchased AppRiver with a bunch of promises and hasnt delivered on any of them. Zix's culture is based on fear and lack of trust (across the board). They have way too many internal politics for their size which indicates they are completely mismanaged... all the way to the top. There is no single drum beat that the org is marching to, there are many small kingdoms with individual leaders reigning over their minions with fear... fear to keep in line with them, not the rest of the org. They think its normal to pressure teams to deliver on unrealistic goals. They will certainly burn everyone out (at least the ones that stay... many are already leaving).

I have been working at AppRiver full-time

    Pros

It use to be a great place to work. The Culture was amazing. You could speak to anyone at any time (Open Door Policy). It was just great to want to go to work.

    Cons

Once they sold out, the CTO, CEO and COO cashed those big checks and all left. Then whoever is running it after that started laying off all the employees that had been there the longest (Because most of them was some of the highest paid. So they let go of a lot of great people an kept the lower paid people. I know this was not really an AppRiver issue but more of a Zix issue. Zix is the company that purhased AppRiver and they had to cut $8 million from the bottom line (between the two companies (($4 million each)). It has just gone downhill since then. Most people here are scared they will be the one cut next and all the old management (HR,Billing,ETC...) are just kissing the new companies butt and are fake as can be to the rest of us still here
