I worked at Appareo Systems as an intern

    Pros

    Cons

Management can be unwilling to understand realistic project scheduling

I worked at Appareo Systems full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The #1 reason I was sad to leave was the people; they are all - almost without exception - fantastic people and co-workers. The leadership also really has their heads screwed on straight and continues to lead the business in positive directions. They also pay close attention to the employees and how things are going and are not afraid to make changes or try something new.

    Cons

During my time at Appareo, they were still transitioning from being a small company to a larger company. There were growing pains, and it never quite felt like they entirely had it figured out.

    Advice to Management

Keep on caring about your people and don't lose that scrappy, go-get-'em attitude!

I worked at Appareo Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people in manufacturing and warehouse

    Cons

Management at every level is only concerned with their own agenda.

    Advice to Management

Care about your people. Good benefits don't make it OK to treat employees like livestock.

I have been working at Appareo Systems full-time

    Pros

    Pushes and rewards innovation; Engineering-centric thought; Intelligent people; Recognizes that the employees have to enjoy the environment; Small enough to know most everyone's name;

    Cons

Just a few thought leaders (<10), everyone else expected to follow / execute; Has manufacturing, but new product transition from design to production is klunky and awkward; design engineering doesn't appreciate the benefit of quality of design and quality of product; Company strategy is not clear.

    Advice to Management

In company meetings, don't just look back on how we did, talk about the future in numbers and where we need to think as a company.

Getting rid of the 360 review is a step back, managers can't see everything that an employee engages in.

There hasn't been an employee survey in regards to leadership or culture. I'm sure it would be eye opening.

There are a lot of mid-level employees who would leave if the right job came along, they're looking.

I have been working at Appareo Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Appareo has the energy of a startup business with the security of an established organization. There are a lot of employee social gatherings such as grill outs, pine wood derby-car races, car shows, picnics, etc. Senior Leadership is very transparent. They communicate everything: the good, the bad, and everything else in between. Appareo is growing at a fast pace which creates an interesting, challenging, and exciting work environment.

    Cons

Since we are growing quickly, there is some uncertainty in regard to processes and procedures. However, there's a dedicated commitment to improve this, so I expect in the near future this will no longer be a matter of concern.
