I worked at Apple part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The staff and coworkers were second-to-none, making this one of the greatest places in retail to work. We had incredible mental health awareness campaigns, as well as, diversity training

    Cons

"Open-Door" policy was not so open. This might sound cynical coming from one employee , but there are several Apple employees (especially those amongst smaller locations) who would reverberate this same concern.

    Advice to Management

Either adhere to your own open-door moto, or make some drastic changes to the policy.

I worked at Apple part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

great team atmosphere, you can definitely meet some motivated and like minded people here. managers are supportive and look out for you. lots of hours. I made so much money during the holidays especially.

    Cons

Hours are a bit wild. You get lost amongst a sea of 100 employees when you're scheduled, was difficult to justify so much time off with school. Sometimes felt like my scheduling manager just wanted me to work all the time with no regards for my time. They really push for you to grow within the company, felt a bit awkward when I would openly talk about my career goals outside of the company.

    Advice to Management

None really, it was a great experience.

I worked at Apple part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working at Apple Canada was simply amazing. The training and support system (coaching and mentorship) was second to none with several opportunities of growth across the board! Despite retail hours, they are quite flexible and understanding with individual scheduling and day off requests.

    Cons

It truly depends which store youre working at. Coming from one of North Americas busiest store, our traffic was non-stop and our store hours were long. But I wouldn't count that as a con considering we had enough employees to cover the busiest launch days. We were open on holidays though, and to some, that might be truly a negative. But the management team is quite understandable and is willing to rotate so long as the request is fair and done ahead of time.

    Advice to Management

Continue to support the team and make sure one-on-one shadowing/mentorship or coaching is available for everyone when needed. Continue to make time.

I have been working at Apple (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Fun, vibrant environment with great benefits. Salary is fair as per market standards. Training is by far some of the best within the retail world

    Cons

Erratic schedule does not always equate to a great work / life balance. Workshops given to clientele seem to only cater to beginners and elderly

I have been working at Apple full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Exciting industry and company to work for. Great extended health benefits including discounts on hardware.

    Cons

You have to punch in, no matter what your role is. Late punches are not received well. The pay is not the greatest for some of the roles. Opportunities for growth are limited if you are not looking to get into management.

    Advice to Management

Too many great, talented employees have left the organization. Managers need to do a better job at retaining top talent.

I worked at Apple part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

great benefits, good pay, generally good team, people look out for each other

    Cons

the politics that happen within the management team and the constant need to develop everyone can get tiring. No sick pay for part-time employees isn't okay, the unreliable working hours make having a life outside of work difficult.

    Advice to Management

Especially as a sales person (Specialist), some of us don't care about growing within the company, we're just there to pay rent. You should be able to accept that and focus your resources on those that actually see a future in retail.

I have been working at Apple full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good compensation for retail; strong company values for environment and community; fun products and fair amount of training. Easy to move with Apple in terms of transfers to other locations.

    Cons

Bad hours (retail, as expected), not much growth for career development. Not many (if any) incentives for staff to be motivated or high performing.
