Apple FCU review
Apr 16, 2023 - Consumer Loan Representative in Fairfax, VARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Health Insurance, Small Company, easy to find the team responsible for specific tasks, easy to be promoted, good step if you are looking to get your "foot in the door"
Cons
Pay is low, since it is a small company the workload is higher, reputation seems more important than the actual work completed, not enough work from home, executive team says they value transparency but they don't answer salary questions during town halls. Some departments have a "high school" "cool kids" vibe- it's really not that serious.

Apple is a good company. Excellent benefits. Training is very good.

The only down side is that management leaves and we still have members in branch. Rules constantly change. Not many opportunities to advance in company.

A growing credit union which is a force for good in Northern VA
Jul 26, 2022 - Associate Vice President in Fairfax, VARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Consistently stable and predictable workplace. Little threat of employment surprises (firing, demotion, unfair disciplinary action) and little threat of frightening consequential corporate changes (downsizing, stock price collapse, investor actions, surprise closing of locations, moving locations). Innovation has been significant in the past several years including a roll-out of modern technology, hybrid work, and fully remote work (though not for branch employees). Genuine people with minimal interpersonal drama among management. Apple has a Diversity, Inclusion and Equity policy to establish consistent expectations for maintaining an inclusive workplace.
Cons
Innovation over the past few years has been significant, but also was greatly needed. Apple FCU is going through an 'awkward adolescence' as it expands from mid-sized credit to a large credit union. As a result, policies/procedures, authority/accountability, workflows, decision-making processes may be unclear to new hires (and to existing employees).

Pros
Talented staff who care about one another. HQ building is nice. Pay increases are based on performance and there's usually a yearly bonus based on org-wide goals. Community service is really valued. When your department is fully staffed with people that are experienced, work-life balance is good.
Cons
A lot of those talented, caring employees are leaving and that means more work for those that are still here, and senior leaders are either oblivious or don't care. Some departments seem to be too small to actually do all of the work they're responsible for. The HR department recently all quit and no one is talking about why. Senior leaders are not progressive at all. Pay isn't great or competitive for the expensive Northern VA area and HR is in denial. IT people get paid WAY better than any other department. Promotions are hard to come by for most, easy for a select few.
