I have been working at Apple part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great everything is fantastic at the Apple Store. Very friendly happy environment. Everyone here is willing to help and support one another. No complaints from my end. Apple definitely knows how to run a retail store and run it perfectly. The company Apple is for their customers employees and community.

    Cons

Nothing wrong here I have nothing to complain about the company. The company apple stands by their credo and help try to make the world better than how they found it.

    Advice to Management

    Nothing

I have been working at Apple full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Probably the best pay and benefits package in the retail space, great atmosphere, competent coworkers

    Cons

Moving from the retail side to the corporate level is exceedingly challenging, frequent manager turnover

    Advice to Management

Promote those who work their butts off

    Pros

Great benefits, fun place to work if you like the retail environment and want to be part of one of the biggest companies in the world.

    Cons

The company is going through a lot of changes at the retail level and some of the managers don't know how to handle said changes, making the processes and bringing down the moral of the employees from different teams, making them feel unappreciated and undervalued. In some cases it is obvious that they have their favorite employees, by promoting them without allowing more experienced co-workers to interview.

    Advice to Management

Be more transparent in the promotion processes and don't pretend to be transparent.

I worked at Apple full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great Values and Moral Fiber spoken through their Credo.

Descent starting wage especially considering the resources given to create more opportunities for yourself to earn a higher wage like, Career Experiences.

Offers amazing benefits package even for part-timers including RSUs.

An amazing emphasis on feedback between peers and management.

You meet and come across some really amazing people.

    Cons

Even though sales are not commission based, it is heavily driven and forces through every area of the business and it is often clear that numbers are the managements main priority.

Micromanaging with no cohesive knowledge to back up micromanaging.

Retail is retail at the end of the day. There's a High School feel to the energy that is required to work for this company that reflect in both a positive and negative way. The positive ways brings a sense of energy and pride to the stores but the negative brings about gossip and childish messy situation that you think that adults or management can overcome, but often management is the source of the childishness. The management also express copious amounts of favoritism.

Management is poorly selected based off only attributes of a snobby dictator that attempts to oversee and motivate underlings with a false sense of positivity and purpose. This often comes off as a special language that they use to try to overcome any obstacle or rebuttal that a person can come up with often making them look real dense and one track minded; they then use this to push out all purpose and reason away from goals and initiatives Apple has set for them to accomplish by whatever set deadline they've been given. (i.e. Robots)

Although they look for diversity in their workers as far as race, sexuality, etc. there isn't much diversity in what they want your personality and knowledge level to be. They have a very cookie cutter theme that they look for in employees and excitement seems to be the theme, but if you are introverted this isn't the best place for you.

As far as the diversity in knowledge the level that is requirement has been severly stunted since I started 7 and a half years ago. Now if you can read a guide and execute you can do any job in the store.

Even though there's an amazing emphasis on feedback the management have a feedback shield when the feedback is for them. It is often never taken seriously.

There is no work/life balance. If you want to be successful at Apple and really move up, all your time has to be devoted to them, just so we're clear.

    Advice to Management

I advice you all as a company in retail push towards the day of old Apple retail as far as the Customer Service. It is clear that the customer is no longer as much as the bottom line with this company as it used to be and neither are your people that you claim to value so much. Get more Managers that actually know more than what they learned in manager training. A real leader is one that works beside his people not one that oversees them.
