    Pros

The culture, the people, the opportunities, the ability to grow in yourself.

    Cons

If you want to move to a different position (not get a promotion, just work somewhere else), you have to be the absolute best in your current position. Many people get misplaced in positions and then are stuck, and can't move.

    Pros

How many places can say they make products that change the world? It is really exciting to work at Apple. It is hard but well worth it. You need to like what you're doing but if you do it is really rewarding. Many people complain that Apple makes you work too hard. You need to work extra to make a shipping date. That's it. And it feels good when you actually can ship a product - most companies are chronically late.

The development environment is very free. You are not bogged down by useless rules about which editor or source control system you have to use. The only rule is get your stuff done. So if you are a good engineer and don't mind some controlled chaos - you will shine here.

    Cons

The benefits could be better -- more google like. E.g., free lunch - but I'm reaching here. The company is very secretive internally which can be frustrating but it is probably a necessary evil.

    Advice to Management

One thing I would change is to improve the benefits a bit. But otherwise, keep doing a great job.

    Pros

Awesome benefits!!! There are vacation accumulation as well as sick hours so you don't draw from your vacation if you get ill. Payed holidays!

    Cons

Nothing with the company but some customers can be extremely difficult over the phone. Constantly training so not for the lazy type.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing to make your employees feel they are important and understand their role. Great feedback

    Pros

Apple is an amazing place to work. There are so many opportunities to grow and learn. Apple is definitely a marketing and engineering company. Consequently the opportunity to shine is in these areas for sure. Other areas offer ample options for career development. Company Fridays on the green are nice.

    Cons

If you don't like to work hard, no need to apply. If your used to solid process in place, no need to apply. Apple is nimble and prides itself on being married to six sigma or other established religion. Luckily there enough gifted individuals who are able to sense direction to keep the ship sailing.

    Advice to Management

It would be great to see better communication across groups. Divide and conquer works very well for product development in order to protect. Other areas may benefit from a little sharing.

    Pros

Culture, environment, uniform (t-shirt), training, coworkers, pay, discount

    Cons

    no downtime (during work)
    maybe overly-diverse
    sometimes a "hippie" attitude
    stopped hiring most college students

    Advice to Management

Great leadership, but sometimes a confusing hierarchy. Also college students would love to know about the opportunities for company advancement. That is sometimes a hard thing to talk about with management.

    Pros

Great people, great company, laid back, the ability to change lives for the better (seriously, the products change people's lives)

    Cons

pay is a bit too low, hours can be killer at times

    Advice to Management

I love working for Apple Inc … However based on my real world experience & knowledge of their products my pay could be a bit higher. Overall pay for Family Room staff should be higher in general when you consider the level of knowledge needed to perform this job. And the level of patience & the ability to instruct gives justice to higher pay as well. A true loyalty of the company & product keeps employees in place but realistically the private sector would easily 4X what Apple does. Don't get me wrong, Apple rocks the casbah but pay needs to be higher for sure.

    Pros

Great benefits, fantastic knowledge-sharing, relatively flat hierarchy, a true sense of community, a perpetually-rewarding work environment, incredible sense of cross-company cohesion, nice perks on merchandise and hardware, great relationships with your immediate management

    Cons

HR makes contradictory statements and claims, HR makes terrible, short-sighted decisions, lack of communication between senior management and lower levels, inflexible full-time scheduling, many conflicts between work and personal life, people can and are fired instantly, job performance is mostly irrelevant unless you are in sales

    Advice to Management

Apple is the greatest company in America, bar none. Everyone on the (high-level) leadership team deserves praise. On the retail level, however, many stores put VERY inflexible and difficult people into positions of power and give them control over virtually all decision-making. This makes all the great talent and ability of their subordinate employees go to waste.

Screen your mid-level employees as carefully as you do your low-level, and you'll have much more efficient and much more enthusiastic stores.
